JUST A THOUGHT

Living Wise

KENYA

To most the country is known for ints wide variety of wildlife, and it's a dream destination to many tourist. Bad of late, the country has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Voting is a democratic right to many states, same in my country. 27 dec 2007 and Kenyans were heading to the poling stations to elect their precident and MPs. Tension was high and once the presint was announced....lets say the gates of hell opened wide. The next morning Kenyans awoke to a new country-a nation on fire. The reason for this was the dispute of the election results.

Protesters took to the streets their demostrations, and the police were quick to contain the situation. The air was filled with smoke, gun shots acting as the goodnight lullaby and the morning wake_up call.
Property went up in smokes as citizens fled for their lives. The ground was socked with blood, blood of innocent Kenyans.
All that is left to do, is trust in God that this two polititians can realize that Kenya is greater than any of them and pray for peace to return in our country.

IF ONLY U KNEW!

We first meet n decided to be friends,
later on it grew to be much greater than friends.
I being to coward to admit it
Friendship I remained calling it.
Many people talk of LOVE, few really know of it.
Many a times we meet people, but few, like ZEUS, have an effect.
Time waits for no man, n mistakes, can't wait for an opportunity.
U stumble and fall, so as to rise and try again.
I stumbled and crashed your heart, but as i tried to fix it,
u seemed not willing to give it a try.
All i can say is, I have never loved, but u I did LIKE.
But in sugar coated words u gave me the hint,
of a word i so much hate.
GOODBYE was the word.
Though u say i crashed your heart, u did so to my hope.
The feeling i now have, knows no bound.
What now remains to be said is,
If only u knew how much u mean to me and the love i had.

Poetic justice

In life, i like it when there is finaly some poetic justice served. We all know the story of the blind gal who refused t5o marry the boyfriend after realising that he was blind yet he donated his eyes to the gal so that she could marry him. To serve some justice, i took it to myself to write what the narrator left out so as to make the story appealing to me. .......months later, the boyfriend got a call from the doctor telling him that they had found a matching eye for him. Pleased with the story the guy went to the hospital and they performed the surgery. It was a success. After recovering, he recieved a latter that was addressed as 'My love' and it stated;

If u are reading this letter, it means am no longer in this world.
I wrote this letter to apologyize to u for the way i treated u.
U gave me a gift but i mas unable to show my gratitude for yah kindness.
After leaving u, the burden of guilt on ma shoulder was enomous
n i could not carry it anymore. But b4, bidding
farewell to this world and to u, i had to return
the one thing that am not fit to have and enjoy (your eyes). Though it
may not erase the heartache i caused u, it will serve
me best knowing they are with the right owner
I bid u farewell n hope u can forgive me at some point
in yah life. Pliz don't shed a tear for me, neither
fell sorry, its best if u just erased me from yah thoughts.
Yours sincerly
..............

Life's a fucker

It's an early morning n the sun is shining brightly; it seems like the day would have some beautiful prospects. As the days event unfold, u find out that things are actually on yah side, so u decide to give yahself a pat on the shoulder. that is when all hell breaks loose. the day takes a catastrophic turn. this is the schedule for most of our days. u find this one thing that u think might work for u and they later take an unecpected turn. U think u finally having a good career untill that brand new guy steps into the office n becomes a threat to u, u think u're have the one u'd wish to spend yah life with, only for them to say they love u as a friend nothing more, u're about to clear yah loan n u get retrenched from yah work. This among other unpresidented events makes me say that life is a BITCH. When life goes as planned, be sure u are dreaming and reality will soon check in.
Though all this happens we must be willing to make the most of it, let the happy moments overwrite the few challenges that we face, and at the end of the day, we shall be smilling as we remnisce on our past.

Better listen

I call you so often but u didn't come,
I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.
You ignored my advice
and rejected the correction I offered.
So i will laugh when you are in trouble!
I will mock you when disaster overtakes you.

To those who I try to help but laugh at me, or to those who think ma hands are week or too dirty for them to hold when i offer it. This is what i will do when all things take the wrong turn

That untill that day

Freedom is one of the expensive commodities in this world, mostly paid for with guns and blood of the patroits. Though it is the esence of every man to be free, the right is like a myth to most pple; to be thought of but not experienced. But the day when we all can say we are free was best described by HIS EMPEROR HAILE SELASSIE when he said;

"That untill the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That untill there are no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation: That untill the colour of man's skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eye: That untill the basic human right are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That untill that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be persued but never attained: And untill the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in angola, in Mozambique and in South africa in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed: Untill begoty and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self interest have been replaced tolerance and good will: Untill all Afrcans stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven: Untill that day the african continent will not know peace: We Africans will fight, if necessary, and we know we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil"

Untill that day that all men can say we are free, I can never be free, untill that day when all can say, express and show what they think without fear, I can never be totally free. I can never be what I ought to be untill you are what u ought to be.

If We Must Die

It's hard not to notice that being different posses a threat to both you and those whome you differe from. I have seen men burshed, tortured, homiliated, and done unto them unspeakable ordeal just because they beg to differe. All i can say to the oppressors is this;
discriminate against us and we will still love u, rob us our dignity and we will still love you, humiliate us before our wives and children and we will love you still, drive us from our homes, tp the valley of death, and hard as that may seem, we shall still love u. we shall meet your zeal to inflict pain with our effort to withstand pain. But since we see u so determined to drive us to our graves, we then need to change our tarctic. An take orms against you. And to all my brethrens out there, lets come as one and by opposing end,, the heart aches and troubles that accompany us to bed every night. But....

If we must die let it not be like dogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot
While around us bark the mad and hungry dogs
Making a mock of our accursed lot
If we must die, Oh! let us nobly die
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain, then even the monster we defile
Shall be constrained to honour us though dead;
Oh kinsmen, we must meet our common foe:
Though far out numbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one dead blow
What though, before us lies the open grave,
Like men well face murderous coward pack
Pressed to the wall dying but fighting back.

Friends

There are angles among us, we may not see them, realize their presence or even notice that they are there for us. Am not talking of the angles that are sitted with God in heaven. No, not them, am talking of a new class of angels. They came nand change our hearts, they are with us every step of the day, visible by the all nand we can touch them, chat and have fun with. They are the so called friends we have. They help us out in desperate moments, bring us up when we are down and offer a crying shoulder for us in times of sorrow. To all of u I consider friends, from the bottom of my heart i say THANK YOU. This goes to Kevin Maina, Wanguhu, Wanga, Mumo, Thiongo, Mrefu, Liz, Charlo, Njambi, Ann, and all them friends that i've not written yah names, but that does not mean u not that important. OH! And there is Phatolo, but i prefer calling Zeus coz like the gods, he touches n influences even though he's far.Thank u all for being ma friends both in times of happiness and times of sorrow.
Martine Luther said;
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convinience, but where he stands in times of challenges and controversy."
U have proved to be worthy friends. God bless u all.

To be or not to be

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. - Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember'd

Whats the difference

It's hard to go along with yah life without seing the ugly shadow that follows you around. The ugly shadow of discrimination that always hung aroung as though the sun never sets in its world n forever it's present n visible. You are of a different race, sexual oriatention, different religion, different believes, different status be it economicaly or by health, n u are prone to its vicious wrath. It seems to me times no fool, and managed to survive the tides and waves that time brings.
But today I ask these questions;

"Hath not a Jew, gay, black/asian eyes? hath not a Jew, gay, black/asian hands, organs,
dimensions, senses, affections, passions? fed with
the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject
to the same diseases, healed by the same means,
warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as
a Christian, straight, or white is? If you prick us, do we not bleed?
if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison
us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not
revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will
resemble you in that."

If so is true, why then do we discriminate one another?
Why kill, destroy or hate one another just because of our differences?
Why do we oppress one another?
We are different from each other, that is a fack we need to acknowledge and realise that we can never be the same. Though we are different, we need each other to survive. The body is not made of only hands, nor is it made of ears, nose, legs or head only. it's made of different parts all of which complement each other

How to live

At times we have things we'd like to say, show, or epress ourselves but we find it hard to do. Many a times do we surcumb to the pressure n go ahead to do what we desire, but as we do that, pple get hurt, relationships destroyed, trust crashed among others. We end up asking ourselves why we did, said, or acted on our thoughts. The one thing that has helped me avoid this situation are the words of Shakespeare. he said;
"Have more than thou showest,
Speak less than thou knowest,
Lend less than thou owest,
Ride more than thou goest,
Learn more than thou trowest,
Set less than thou throwest;
Leave thy drink and thy whore, And keep in-a-door,
And thou shalt have more Than two tens to a score."

Hop it works for u too.
