I lived in an old storefront
converted into a house.
It was in a small strip mall built in the 1940’s
with little shops on either side of me
for some reason my sister lived with me
I was napping on my red couch
she ordered me to get rid of the clutter
because someone was coming over
I told her she annoyed me
that it was my house
she said the furniture wasn’t in the right place
so I moved the furniture
to please her
all the while grumbling and cursing.
Then I was out on the beach
there were many artists with easels painting
there was a large building with pillars
I remember walking through the pillars
and wondering why this building was there.
Further up from the beach
I walked on a very wet trail
along a high cliff
I was taking pictures of the artists on the beach
and the scenes in the distance they were painting
I walked some more and was in a very precarious position
the ground was too wet to go further
I slipped
there were rocks below
so I went back to a safer position
and took more pictures
of the scene in the distance.....
There were enormous boulders creating sort of an island
with a huge castle-like building with pillars
I went back to the building on the beach
to get photos close-up of the artists and their paintings
By then, they’d all gone
Only one person left
I was getting closer to her painting
It was large, perhaps 48 x 48,
it appeared to be an abstract
of the outdoor scene with different shades of blue
then I woke up
FYI: I felt I had to write the events of this dream down as I had a very strange feeling after waking up. Not a bad feeling, just a strange one. The dream was very vivid to me. It was during a two hour nap today from 10:30 am to 12:50 pm. Usually my naps are 20 to 30 minutes. This sleep obviously was a very deep one. Does anyone out there analyze dreams?

Linda, hmmmmm, I'll have to think about that.
I just went to a used bookstore called Bookman's. They take in books too and you can either get money or a store credit. I'm finally going through some of my books and took in 7. The cash back was only $7.50 but the store credit was $23, so I took the credit because I wanted to look for a book on dreams. Went to the psychology section and found a huge, hard bound book on 20,000 dreams for $13 but got it free with the store credit and still have $10 left on the credit. Will do some reading in it tonight.

I looked up 'pillars' on an online dream site and it said it meant I, or someone in my life was very strong. But it also is a phallic symbol. So either I'm a pillar of strength or I need a man.

This is one I dreamt 9 years ago.
http://my.opera.com/gdare/blog/2008/03/25/sunday-morning
It was very strong and I remembered him few days, then decided to write it down. There are few more of them but will need translation

Darko, thanks for the link. I just left a comment. I think dreams are our subconscience working on us and trying to tell us something. Have always believed that. I have a notebook somewhere that I wrote about a bunch of them. Haven't had a vivid one in along time like I did today.
When I woke up, I had to look outside. I guess I thought I was going to be by the beach. I love the beach, looking at it, wading in the water or walking in the sand barefoot, looking for rocks and shells but will not swim in the water.

This dream always scares me a bit because the first time I had it was after I'd read one of Dean R. Koonz novels. This was the fourth one of his I'd read.....and the last. It gave me the creeps. If I remember, it was called Hideaway and there was a cavernous area underneath a rollercoaster ride. It was the area where the cars were rolled down into for storage or to be worked on. There was another cavern underneath this area and that was where other things happened that I won't even go into. I vowed to never read another one of his books. His other ones I read were more Sci Fi and not so gruesome and frightening.

One of my recurring dreams is about crossing a wooden bridge in a car and the bridge has lots of broken and missing boards. My dad is going very slowly and I am scared so badly when I look down at the holes and broken boards that I wake up with my heart beating like a trip hammer.

Linda, I've had dreams about crossing bridges and never reaching the other side.

Got up this am to three piles of loose you know what. Let both dogs out, then noticed Camie eating grass which meant she had an upset tummy. Thought I'd left her out long enough but as soon as she came back in, she puked up grass twice and in the same area where I had just cleaned up the poop.
I had a pleasant morning.

Maybe the puking is part of the therapy?

Linda and Glenyce, I've been looking up things in my new book on dreams. I'll have to do another post on dreams and tell a few of the definitions it lists. It's kind of generic but with over 500 pages it has lots of info.

From the soul is our personality perspective on housing, we have created ourselves here on Earth and through which we live our earthly lives. In dreams, our personality be manufactured as a dwelling.
A dwelling will often be a house, but it can also be a tent or a castle. When housing is in your dreams, you have the opportunity to see how your personality is constructed.
And you walk by the sea in your dreams:
Water is liquid, and as a symbol of emotions, it means that the emotions in their natural state is in constant flux - as a response to what we experience as a susceptibility of energy that can be channeled in different directions. If a feeling is naturally available, it is "floating", and will among others say that it disappears by itself if you let it be, and is followed by a second.
The liquid can be seen as a property which is in contrast to the flat, which symbolizes a solid personality who is keen to preserve its diversity in relation to others and perceive the world as consisting of separate, discrete things that we can only know something about if one pill from each other or even open your mouth and say a few words.
Conversely, everything that is or will be floating in a dream to tell about our ability to effect the emotions to live ourselves into others feel connected, be part of a mood, it could mark a radiance, inclusive movement and changing and respond to a situation in accordance with our feelings.
These words are from a Danish site about dreams: http://www.livstro.dk/netkursus/droemme.html
I´ve always been interested in analyzing dreams. My Dad did it a lot and told me a lot about symbols in dreams. It was like listening to fairy tales
I use this site a lot at the moment because one of the caracters in my next painting, Claudia, the daughter of Yvonne has very visionary dreams

I believe the pillars are the men in your life, but I don't think the dream is telling you that you need a man.
The location of the dream is very calm, a house on the beach and you are napping.. it means you are relaxed and feeling safe.
You're sister living with you, I guess it means the strong realtion between you and your origins, and that your family helps you make changes in your life, that what changing furniture means.
Climbing a cliff means that you are rising, reaching a high level in your life, yoou are doing it, or did it, the hard way. And finally you managed to look over your life from there so you can evaluate and assess.
The artist you got closer too is yourself, and the painting is how you look at your art.. I understood that your favorite color was blue.. so tones of blue in this abstract painting of the view.. it shows how content you are about your art.
It's a good dream I think.
