Art, Poetry and Life

What I am seeking is not the real and not the unreal but rather the unconscious, the mystery of the instinctive in the human race-Amedeo Modigliani

I have a secret I'd like to tell

,

I will be a grandma next March 2010.

I've been relishing in this privately for the past 3 and a half months. My daughter in North Dakota sent me this photo a month or so ago. I am so happy for her and her husband. I can't think of better parents.

I told her I was going to post this but would crop her face. I tried to post the .tif ultrasound picture but was unable to do so. Saving it and resizing it in Corel will not change it from the .tif format.

Ok, here's the ultrasound. I hope the comments don't disappear.

A very old and exciting findBloor Due

Congrats :hat:

Convert the .tif to a .jpg and that should do the trick!

gdare 19. October 2009, 18:52

Congrats, Pam, to you and your daughter and her husband, of course :D Great news.

You can solve this if you open .tif in Corel Photo Paint or Adobe Photoshop and then choose Save as.. and change the extension in the drop down menu. If you don`t have any of these programs, you can export it from Corel Draw and then choose .jpg from a drop down meny. If this is too confusing, just send me a .tif and I will do it for you

Stardancer 19. October 2009, 18:56

Congratulations, Pam! Grandmommydom is so much fun! I'm so excited for you!

Best wishes to your daughter and her family, too. I hope for the very best for all of you.

You are all in my prayers.

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 18:56

Thanks Andy and Darko.

I will try this as I think the ultrasound photos are so interesting and surreal to look at.

Dacotah 19. October 2009, 18:57

Congratulations Pam :hat:

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 19:00

I see Star and I posted at exactly the same second.

Thank you Star. I would love to see her pregnant and there is a possibly I'll visit in January. January is a favorite time for blizzards there, however, so we shall see.

But, for certain, I'll visit in April. Her husband gets three weeks off after the birth and she will take a 3 month leave of absence. I will let them have their special time together, just the three of them.

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 19:01

Thank you Carol. I can hardly wait.

Darko, come to think of it, it happened to be once too. I'd forgotten.

Thanks Nic. I'm very elated. Just wish I lived closer.

Suntana 19. October 2009, 22:25

Congratulations, Pam! 1st time grandma?
For a while there, I thought maybe you had tickets to the Jerry Springer Show or were going to be a guest on it. :insane:

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 22:33

 Hardly Jerry Springer. Yeah, I could see myself in a hair pulling, dress ripping fight with....with...well, you know....the other guest.

Thank you and, yes, 1st time grandma.

slackwrdave 19. October 2009, 22:35

Congrats!

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 22:37

Firestar, I'm 61, a far cry from 30. My son, the oldest is 40, and my two daughters are 31 and almost 27.

I don't have a really recent photo of me. The last one in one of my photo albums entitled "Picture time-line" is from four years ago. Then there is one, a close up, taken about 5 years ago. The one with me holding a friend's preemie was two years ago.

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 22:39

Thanks Dave. I can't wait.

Suntana 19. October 2009, 23:24

I'm sure you'll have to do some signature PainterWoman artwork on something when you visit them. Maybe a couple of walls, a door and the crib.

PainterWoman 19. October 2009, 23:46

I've already given them quite a few of my paintings for the walls in their home. If they'd let me, I'd paint something on their big shed out back. It's all white and dying to be painted on.

Oh, and the crib...they plan on getting one of those convertible cribs where you take the railing off, lower the mattress and it turns into a bed for a child. Something that can be used for quite a few years. Little ones learn to climb out of the cribs at about 18 mos. which is kinda scary.

Suntana 20. October 2009, 00:05

THERE ya go! A big canvas ... I mean, a big shed just begging, crying to be painted on. As the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz said, "But, these things must be done delicately." You know ... as to how to bring up the subject.

ellinidata 20. October 2009, 00:37

:hat:  :Congrats , what a great news these are!
Homer: Doh! only a week or so ago I was wishing you to become a grand ma! Gosh ! God works in amazing ways! :hat:

as for the mom to be:

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 00:53

Thanks Angeliki. This news is so exciting. I'm hoping she comes on here and makes a comment cuz she always cracks me up.

I remember a week ago, almost letting it slip but I wanted to keep it for myself just a bit longer.

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 00:56

Carlos, now something from the Wizard of Oz might be cool. I'd leave out the mean witch though. How about the nice one that gave Dorothy the shoes to get her back home.

Phantom2 20. October 2009, 00:57

:hat: Congratulations to You, and the new Mom & dad to be!

Now you will get to spoil a child with no guilt on your part!

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 01:02

Thanks P2.

Well, my kids think I deprived them because I didn't buy cookies, twinkies and ding dongs all the time. BUT, I DID let them use all the extra sheets and blankets to build tents in the livingroom.

Phantom2 20. October 2009, 01:10

 Oh how I remember those days!

Stardancer 20. October 2009, 01:11

I still build tents in the living room.

ellinidata 20. October 2009, 01:15

THESE ARE GREAT NEWS PAM!!!!!!

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 01:22

Star and P2: Well, if we ever all meet, we can build our blanket tents and have a sleepover.

Angeliki: In a week (or maybe she said a month) when she has the next ultrasound, she will find out for sure.

Suntana 20. October 2009, 02:21

Whoa! I didn't even think of the Wizard of Oz as the theme, Pam. Sure! That'll work. Toto too? Toto too. :D

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 02:36

Toto, too, of course. :D And the Tin Man, the Scare Crow and the Lion. I'd make Dorothy look like my daughter. Hmmmmmm, this is starting to sound like a six month mural. :ko: I am NOT a fast painter.

Suntana 20. October 2009, 03:25

 You sound like that Painter Dude on Murphy Brown. Did you watch that show? Remember he lasted I guess virtually the entire series' duration painting Murphy Brown's place? :eyes: :jester:

:yikes: But, but ... but, you're not going to be over there for even 1 month, right? Houston Phoenix, we have a problem. nervous

FirestarXXX 20. October 2009, 03:34

thaodp 20. October 2009, 05:05
