I'm addicted to American Idol

,

I love watching and listening to people sing....especially American Idol. :sing: Many people say they think Idol is a hoax and never watch it....or they don't admit they do. Watching the young people blossom into full fledge performers is great. A few of them, out perform everyone right off the bat. The one I'm talking about this season is Adam Lambert. If he doesn't win, I will be very surprised. He's been in theatre for the last two years, according to his bio. This experience makes him very comfortable on the stage. I loved his most recent performance and love his look. Click American Idol to view their site.

Go to 'videos' then click on 'performances'. It took a few seconds for the video to load. The first one is Adam's, then I think the second one is Alexis, who is very good too. I only remember these two names, as well as Scot McIntyre, as they are my favorites. The performances last week had to be Michael Jackson songs. At the moment, I don't recall what the theme is for this week. I think it is amazing they can learn a new song in a week. Some play instruments as well. Scott McIntyre, the young blind man from Arizona plays piano while he sings. I'm rooting for him too.

Adam, the one I think is going to win, is a doll and I love the closeups on TV showing his blue eyes!:faint:

Oh my, you are fast  I thought you`ve said "in a few days" P:
Or someone stole them from me, unnoticed :insane:
*checks for a date*

Thanks for a link, I will go to see it now

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 17:30

 Sometimes I can be fast. Either that or my minutes turn into days.

Darko 14. March 2009, 17:42

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 17:45

Yeah, I know....I laugh at myself most of the time.

I forgot to add that once one video is done, wait a few seconds and the next one will load. You can see all thirteen performances from last week.

Darko 14. March 2009, 17:50

Thanks, it just happened :D

Carol 14. March 2009, 18:02

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 18:22

That'd be him! I've watched it about ten times now. :D

Carol 14. March 2009, 18:23

He doesn't look blind, he walks over to the front of the stage and reaches out to shake someones hand.

Léazz 14. March 2009, 18:35

Adam :headbang: err Lady Pam which judge out of the 4 you like? I think Simon is  altho many dislike him :D

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 18:44

Leazz: I like Simon, although I didn't at first. He is extremely handsome. I think he was more cruel at the beginning of Idol. He seemed crabby all the time. The entertainment business is a tough one and I believe he tells it like it is. Especially in the tryouts. He will say 'that was terrible' which is sometimes true. During Idol, I agree with what he says most of the time. Other times, not so much. But as with all the judges, they have certain expectations for the finalists. If the performers pick the wrong song that doesn't really match with who they are, it can make or break them, then they are gone the next week.

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 18:48

Carol, the one that's blind is Scott McIntyre from Arizona. I changed the wording in my post to make it less confusing. I was never good at writing papers....I'd get 'confusing' marked in red on the top when I got it back. That's why I try to stick to painting. :D The teacher couldn't put red marks on my canvas!

Léazz 14. March 2009, 18:52

My sentiments exactly   Thank you Lady Pam. Gonna wish you goodnight now, its 2.30 am sunday :D Goodnight

Léazz 14. March 2009, 18:54

:yikes: 3am :faint:
Would you sing me a lullaby Lady Pam?

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 18:56

Oh my, 2:30 am. There are times I wake up at that time and I'm like a zombie the rest of the day. Good night.

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 18:57

You wouldn't want to hear me sing. My dogs always leave the room when I do.

Carol 14. March 2009, 19:26

Oh, oops, sorry. I see.

Andy Wilson 14. March 2009, 23:14

Any man that wears eye liner scares me :eyes:

PainterWoman 14. March 2009, 23:23

 We have quite a few of them here. Sort of a cross between Goth, Mod, Punk and Emo, although I'm not entirely sure. I'm just guessing. I think they all wear makeup for promo shoots.

He reminds me a little of Elvis Presley in the first one.

Léazz 14. March 2009, 23:55

 and its morning again. Good sunny sunday morning Lady Pam and everyone.

Edward Piercy 15. March 2009, 00:37

I can't wait to get my Blackberry so I can text in my vote. I don't actually want to watch the show, I just want to pick a singer at random and text in the vote. p:

Léazz 15. March 2009, 00:38

Linda 15. March 2009, 01:32

Where is BabyJ that it is Sunday rather than Saturday. It is Sat. in Texas. Pam, I love American Idol also. I watched the very first one and voted for Kelly Clarkson. That girl has a big voice (she's from Texas! )

Léazz 15. March 2009, 01:37

Hi Linda  Salutation. Am from Singapore  and its sunny 9.30 am here  you!re invited to visit our Castle of Happiness  have a good evening kind Lady.

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 01:42

Good morning to you Leazz.

Ed, you mean you'd just randomly pick a number and not listen to them sing?

Linda, 'BabyJ' or Leazz is in Singapore. They are like 12 or 18 hours ahead of us.

I forgot Kelly Clarkson was from Texas. She's doing quite well and so is the blond girl that sings country......Carrie Underwood? You don't hear too much about the other ones. I've never voted. I tried a couple of times and could never get through.

Edward Piercy 15. March 2009, 02:22

Yep. More fun that way. Kinda like playing roulette.

Carol 15. March 2009, 02:26

Pam, if you would like to put this in your post just click edit.

American Idol

instead of the url address.

You can do this with any url address and type what you would like inbetween.

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 02:31

Thanks Carol. You, Darko and a couple other people have taught me how to do that but I tend to forget to do it.

Carol 15. March 2009, 02:33

You are welcome Pam. I know I did to at first.
I wrote it down and than when I wanted to do it I had to look for where I wrote it down. :D

Linda 15. March 2009, 03:07

Pam, speaking of not hearing too much about other contestants on American Idol--there is a show on cable and satellite tv called something like "American Idols, Where Are They Now" that tells what other high placed contestants are doing these days. I know one of them--the redheaded kinda funky lookin' one--has her own karaoke bar now. Might want to check it out if it is available to you. Pretty interesting.

studio41 15. March 2009, 07:45

My daughter (actually all of the kids) watch it, I haven't watched before, but my daughter has shared a few clips... her vote is for Danny Gokey, although she admits that the boy above is a great vocalist/performer. I admit to enjoying KITCHEN NIGHTMARES.

Allan 15. March 2009, 08:24

I watch these sorts of programs as well. I agree with the critics who claim that the hoax comes with the fact that it's impossible to compete in something as undefinable as music.

But I guess it's the educator in me who enjoy watching - rather witnessing - people grow up and blossom, as you say.

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 16:12

Jill: Danny Gokey is good to. Actually, they all are. 'Kitchen Nightmares' I have never seen. Although I've had a few in my own.

Allan: Exactly. There are times I wonder the same things when someone gets voted off who is very, very good. To me, the voting is a monumental problem. If each person could only vote once, it would be better. I've tried a couple of times but was never able to get through. People who have speed dial or multiple phones clog it up I think.

I just watch and listen and enjoy the songs. Of course, I pick my faves but it is hard to do sometimes when they all have a dream of singing and are all so good.

Allan 15. March 2009, 16:16

Here there's a limit to the votes. You can only vote via text-messages, and only once per competitor. That limits it somewhat.

But to be honest I don't care much for the voting either - I just sit here like and old grandfather joyfully watching people getting to know what they can do. The learning process is very pleasant for me - also to watch.

I wonder if you'd like to watch my favorite here in Denmark? The only adult competitor left in the competition:

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 16:56

Thanks for sharing that Allan. I love Linda! I watched a few others from the same episode 4 and I think she's the best. A great song choice for her and she performed it well.

Linda 15. March 2009, 19:20

I am partial to the church music director and the other one from Texas, the young, all-American guy from Jasper, Tx., which is not too far from where I live. But you are right, when it gets down to the last few, they are all excellent and it is hard to choose. I will stick with my Texans unless they have been voted off.

Edward Piercy 15. March 2009, 19:44

Kelly Clarkson was on Saturday Night Live last night. Wasn't she an American Idol person at one time?

Linda 15. March 2009, 22:11

edwardpiercy, Kelly Clarkson was winner of the first ever American Idol. And she has a truly great voice, even though I do not like the type of music she puts out on her cd's.

Edward Piercy 15. March 2009, 22:35

Thanks, L2.

You can call me Ed.

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 22:40

Graham, I don't know. The standing ovations are common on the show. I think everyone is so excited that it just comes naturally.

I don't think I ever saw Clockwork Orange. Did it come out in the 60s?

PainterWoman 15. March 2009, 22:42

Thanks for answering Ed's question Linda. I had to leave and work for a bit.

Linda 16. March 2009, 00:42

Absolutely one of my favorites. Terribly violent and strange, fantasy-like. The speech patterns were weird. Malcolm McDowell played the main character, forget what was his name. He was truly evil. I have a video cassette of the movie. Seen it several times.

Edward Piercy 16. March 2009, 00:45

It was Alec, I think.

PainterWoman 16. March 2009, 02:23

Yet another movie to go on my wish list. About every six months I buy a classic. They'are about $30 each but they are movies that either I love or have always wanted to see. Still haven't watched The Man Who Fell to Earth which is the most recent one I bought. The one before that was La Dolce Vita.

Linda 16. March 2009, 02:26

Pam, you will either love A Clockwork Orange, or you will hate it. It is pretty far out for some people's taste. I guess I am twisted because I liked it, while hating the happenings.

studio41 16. March 2009, 06:20

'Kitchen Nightmares' I have never seen. Although I've had a few in my own.

 Gordon Ramsay is an incredible chef who has many restaurants who does a couple of shows. I enjoy the transformations of the restaurants featured-- he really gets to the bottom of things-- but not without a lot of 'bleeping'.

Allan, she is great. Great voice, confidant performer AND how does she walk in those heels?!?!

PainterWoman 16. March 2009, 06:39

They walk backwards in heels too! Or dance! I don't know how they do it.

I went to flat shoes about ten years ago yet I still hang on to the last couple pair of heels I bought...like 20 years ago.

Kitchen Nightmares reminds me of the one time I watched Hell's Kitchen. Sort of like an Idol for chefs. I, personally, wouldn't be able to stand being screamed at or my food thrown on the floor by the Master Chef if he didn't think it was up to snuff.

PainterWoman 17. March 2009, 15:21

:D Same to you Issy!
