Some Non-Traditional Christmas Music for your enjoyment

, ,

Just accidentally discovered them on YT...The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christmas Canon Rock:

Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Queen of the Winter Night, with synchronized Christmas lights:

When I was very young, Silent Night was one of the first Christmas songs I learned. Then in 8th grade, my beloved music teacher, Mr. Ten Harkel, taught us the lyrics in German. I only remember the first verse in German and I love hearing it sung this way:

I always thought that Pachelbel was the first to invent the concept of rock - in sixteenhundredandsomething.

Seems like I am on to something

Weatherlawyer 14. December 2008, 16:29

He's certainly there with a three note riff.

Babs 15. December 2008, 06:04

Love the music, Pam. And Pachelbel - I could listen to all day! Thanks for the link Weatherl

Merry Christmas! :D

PainterWoman 15. December 2008, 14:41

Thanks everyone. I love hearing new music, if I like it, of course, but also love some of the old stuff. I have added Silent Night from YT with the words in German for a sing-along.

Lovinmalamutes 16. December 2008, 18:41

I apologize to everyone for not addressing you individually sooner. I'm still sort of out of it due to my cold which has turned into bronchitis.
The coughing fits wear me out.

Angeliki: Yes, I loved it as soon as I heard it.

Darko, WeatherLawyer, Graham, Allan,Babs and LovinMalamutes: Glad you liked it. I love accidental finds like this.

Ed: Yeah, that was a bit scary. She looked like a stereotypcial wicked step mother to me.

Issy: Merry Christmas to you too.

Amir: Thanks. More to come when I feel a bit better. I keep thinking I'm well, then have a set back a few days later.

I'll wish everyone a Merry Christmas now, in case I don't get another Christmas post up. One of my daughters is coming into town on Monday, plus I've some planning to do, wall painting to finish and carpet and old tiles to rip out. I can only do a bit at a time, then have to rest. Gettin tired of all this resting! I like being busy!

Weatherlawyer 20. December 2008, 14:52

Sounds like you have the heating on. Get out in the cold, get warm, then come back and go to bed when you are cold again. NO HEATING.

The phlegm will pour out. Try that cleansing diet too:

PainterWoman 20. December 2008, 15:06

Why no heating? I know it dries out the air too much. Is that why?

I'm not going to try any kind of diet like that. If I was younger maybe I would.

I think I'll stick to my hot ginger tea courtesy of my Vietnamese daughter-in-law.

Weatherlawyer 20. December 2008, 15:18

I get (is it rhinitis?) from the car heater and notice that dry heating at home gives me coughs. You know those niggling coughs you can't shake?

Get a bag of frozen veg out the freezer and stick between your shoulder blades for a minute or two. It will stop it straight away.

But just getting cool exercise until you warm up will do. It's invigorating. You just need to get that almost stinging cold in your nose if you can. You can go home then.

PainterWoman 20. December 2008, 15:24

I might take a walk today. The air is brisk, about 50 something degrees. Perfect walking weather. Plus the rain has stopped.

Weatherlawyer 20. December 2008, 17:02

If you die of newmoania don't come grumbling to me.

Edward Piercy 20. December 2008, 19:31

It's not newmoania that I worry about. It's oldmoania.

Léazz 21. December 2008, 11:02

Lady Pam, thanks for sharing. Canon Rock has always been my favourite.

Babs 22. December 2008, 04:36

Pam, I'm on the cleansing diet - It's not bad. I'm easing into it, and start the full thing tomorrow. I'm going to try for 20 days. Supposedly, the first 10 are just to get the juices flowing. Take lemon juice/honey/and lukewarm water for that cough. Vicks Vapor Rub on your feet with some cotton socks works too. (I know, I know, it's an old wive's tale, but it works.)

PainterWoman 22. December 2008, 04:48

Denise, old wive's tales work, let me tell ya. I'd forgotten about Vicks and didn't even know they still sell it. I remember when I was little my mom would rub Vicks on my chest, put a thick cotten cloth on my chest and pin it to the inside of my pj's so it wouldn't move. By morning, or in another day, any conjestion I had would be better or gone. I've tried the warm lemon juice w/ honey AND the hot ginger tea from my daughter in law...very soothing. My cough is 98% gone. The older I get, the longer any illness lasts.

Why didn't I see these?

WL: I'm not usually a grumbler.p:

Ed: What are the symptoms of oldmonia? p:

Lea: Glad you enjoyed it.
