Seems like years since the Great South 2009 run so much has happened. Julie and I finally left Chichester and moved permenantly to Moretonhampstead, Devon on February 26th 2010. Our last 10k was the Chichester Priory in February 2010 and since then have only been doing regular local training runs of about 5 (ish) miles. The only competitive race we have done to date is the Chagford two hills race. Three and a half miles up and down Nattadon and Meldon hills with a deep bog in the middle to contend with. Marshalls on hand to drag you out with ropes if required.Would do it again, Julie wouldn't.
I'm the one next to the right shoulder of the tall guy, about 200yds from the finish.
I have been working as a part time houseman (general hall porter) at Gidleigh Park Hotel since mid March 2010 and I really love my job. In addition to carrying guests luggage to and from their rooms, I also assist with ensuring that all the public areas are pristine, clearing trays, parking guests cars (yes, Astons, Porches, Lexus and Rollers) though as the car park is less than 50 yards away, speeding isn't an issue. Staff are caring and work long hours to ensure guests are well looked after. It's a job I hope I can do for many years.
Julie is working part time at the nearby miniature pony centre and is very happy there.
Our new home is a new build property and the rest of the developement is still being built, which makes for some noisy days, but it's interesting to see Sawyers Close grow. To our left there are cows in a field, in front and to the right, rolling hills and woods. No noisy roads nearby so the only sounds are cows mooing and birds twittering.
Back to familiar territory for our holidays this year, namely Hotel Medes Estartit and hotel Calina Cadaques
Creatures of habit maybe, but at the time of year we holiday, we have Calina hotel and pool to ourselves. It's still warm and there are no night time mossies to annoy. Just us a glass of wine and the song of crickets to keep us entertained. Bliss
