TORBAY 10k Sunday August 22nd 2010

The forecast wasn't promising for Torbay 10k, light showers they said, clearing later. We drove down to Torquay from our home in Mortonhampstead, a distance of about 20 miles, in ever worsening conditions, the light showers becoming heavier and heavier.
Arriving at 5.45pm for the 7.00 o'clock start we found that from the dedicated parking area the start was three quarters of a mile away in one direction and the finish half a mile away in the other direction. We jogged to the start and said hello to other runners that we had met at earlier races this year. The race started and the rain got heavier but when you're wet, you're wet and we were. A few undulating parts, but not too bad and glad to finish in 56 minutes, Julie 10 minutes later.
Still raining and still a half mile jog back to the car where we both stripped off and changed into dryish clothes - steamy windows!!
Home after that for a shower and late supper of pate, warm bread and salad and a bottle of Merlot. Arguably the best part of the evening.
