As of now I cannot get away from this feeling. This ecstatic, relentless joy that is filling my every thought. And I can thank Radiohead for it.
It began Monday night. My friend Alky calls me at work. He tells me the greatest news I have heard in a very long time. He describes to me that earlier that day Radiohead has announced they are releasing their new album. Its titled In Rainbows. They are doing it in ten days. From this moment on, I cannot stop thinking about it. Feeling like a little kid, I parooze the internet to feast my mind with more information. I go to my first stop for Radiohead news, www.greenplastic.com, and get the entire story.
Without a label, without more than a weeks notice, without a static fee, everyone, all at once, can hear Radiohead's new album at the same time. Almost 4 and a half years in the making, and it will be ours the 10th. Talk about a feat. When the best band in music wont use the monopoly we call the music industry, we are in for a new age.
Something about their strategy to release this album is so thought provoking and exciting. This is so fresh. So new. I wont be bombarded with advertisements to persuade me to purchase the album. It wont be slammed down my throat on the radio. It will be moving backward from what I'm used to, and thats the way it should be. You pay what you want for the album, even $0. This, of coarse, is going away from the idea, but it is so revolutionary. Not just for music, but art in general.
Radiohead have changed me. I cannot thank them enough for that. Again.
So school started a few weeks ago. I'm loving every class, and having a blast being there every day. At some points I feel overwhelmed, but I know its all worth it in the end. So I just had a critique on our first project in my Graphic Design 1 class today. I love being immersed in a creative community where ideas flow and people can give their opinion and share interpretations. It makes me feel so good, and helps me really understand what I love so much about where I am in my life right now. I think I solved the problem of the project well. We had to choose 2 words from a list and visually interpret them. We were sized down to the use of only two typefaces, Gill Sans and Goudy. Now this may sound easy, but it is a lot more challenging than it seems. After hours of work I came up with the below four designs. I am pretty pleased with the results, but as always, theres more I feel I could do to strengthen the pieces. I'm never satisfied
So as I was cruzing around youtube I found a designer by the name of Nick Schrunk The guy is a master with typography and motion. I am completely baffeled by the work that he does. Inspiring.
Since were on the subject of type in motion... Jarratt Moody!

I stumble. Its not a small step, but a large one. It brings me down. It throws me to the ground. It defies gravity.
I guess it comes up in alot of what I do. So I am very interested in animation and want to dig deep into what its all about. The only way for me was to get my hands dirty. So here it is, my first flip book. It is very simple, but I wanted to see what it was like. So here is some stop-frame animation, with music by The Hoodies
Heres a still life of my pool table. 18x24, pencil. About 5 hours. The rails were probably the most difficult part to render, it was an odd thing to get the perspective right. My favorite touch is that you can see the reflection of the 13 ball in the 8 ball, and if you look real close you can see my figure also in the reflection.
So I also went on a road trip with a few good friends to see a Yankees Red Socks game. Needless to say it was one of the best times of my life. Pictures
Well here is my first piece of artwork I am uploading. I think my portfolio is starting to look like an actual portfolio, and it might gain some attention from the schools I want to get into. But you can decide. This is a conceptual piece, inspired by an artist I found on one of my friends myspace pages. I get bored doing still life's and pencil drawings, so I go crazy and make things like this. I don't know what it means, its usually just me getting things out in my artwork. 18 x 24, Mixed media (ink, pastel), took around 5-6 hours to do if I had to guess. I love the look and feeling splatter gives to a piece, so I went crazy with it as a background and a good setting of tone for what I had in mind on top of the ink. I tried to use organic shapes, but wanted the pieces of the heart pop more. The color scheme is something I'm not sure of, I wanted to keep it in the red/pink values. I really didn't do much with color before a few months ago, so I'm still trying to understand how it changes a composition. I like to do a lot with small detail, so its a much more intimate piece when you see it first person, so a good amount of detail is hard to see in the picture, if you can blow it up give it a quick look. I try to get as much expression out of a line as possible, and make em real crazy and fun.
Also some other news... I got a PS3 yesterday! WOW it's amazing. I have been on the thing for hours today without any kind of boredom setting in, much more than I can say about the previous Xbox 360 I sold to purchase it. And I'm completely excited for a bunch of games coming out within the next months, like GTA IV, Call of Duty 4, Assassins Creed, Rock Band and most of all, Little Big Planet. And I got to download a video of the new Metal Gear, which is the reason why I love games so much, so I'm basically a happy person now. So thats life at the moment.
SUMMER CLASSES ARE FINALLY OVER!!! Ive been taking classes at Monroe Community College over the summer to get ahead/keep myself learning and they have finished yesterday. For four weeks I have been destroying my summer to learn about Art History and draw for 5 hours a day, and it was worth it. So I was planning on posting a new piece I made in my Drawing II class... But unfortunately my sister decided to steal my camera, so I cant take a snapshot of it yet. But I did finish this trailer for my newest short a while ago, and haven't put it on YouTube yet, so I figured Id go for it. The film is entitled Turn Your head (for the blood). The title was inspired by Dave Matthews Band's song shotgun. I don't really like to tell plot lines much about my movie because I don't like them ruining the experience, all Ill say about this one is our nameless main character is all alone and its the end of the United States. My friend and I went and shot it in about 5 hours, and I'm still editing the final cut of the film. So here it is, hope you enjoy, and any comments would be great!

Well this is my first blog about me. I'm not sure if anyone will care to see what I have to post, but its a start. So I'm into a lot of things, that being art, film, design, activities that include running, jumping, and singing... Whatever. I made this page so I can share my artwork. I think its important to get what you make out there, and to have others give feedback on it. I mean, what else is art if others cant get something out of it too? So this is my attempt to enlighten people and express what I have going on in my mind and all kinds of different things. So you'll see movie clips of my films, artwork that I create, and even some ideas I have. Cool.
