Effect's R Easy In Photoshop

Creating glowing text

Hi All,

Here is tutorial on creating glowing text effect in Photoshop.





For this tutorial we have to create a custom brush by using very basic shapes in Photoshop.

1. Create a new document with 640 x 480 resolution, fill it with black color name this layer as Background then create a new layer on top of this layer.

2. Go to Custom shape shortcut is "U" key then select line tool increase the width of line as 10 px.



3. Draw three lines on different layer as shown.

4. Go to Filter - Distort - Shear, keep same setting as show in image or as you like.





5. Select all 3 lines layer and merge them down.



6. Go to Edit - Define Brush Preset - Name it as you like.



Hurray! Our cool brush is ready now try to use it.

7. Create a new document of 1600 x 1200 size and fill it with black color.

8. Press keyboard "T" key for Type tool, Horizontal type tool.

9. Type "Photoshop", I use "Forte Font" for this tutorial which I downloaded from http://www.fontyukle.com/en/Forte.ttf

10. Ctrl + mouse left click for making selection of text.



11. Go to Windows - Paths - Click on Make Work Path From Selection, this create work path.



12. Delete text layer but work path should be active or not deleted.



13. Press "B" key of your keyboard by default our new created brush is selected if not select that.

14. Press "F5" or click on Toggle the Brush Palette and Keep 30 px as diameter and spacing 1%.



15. Create new layer and select Pen Tool by pressing "P" key change foreground color to white.



16. Right click on on Path and select stroke path - Stroke Path - Brush



17.Follow the same step for 4 or 5 times. Image will look something like this -



18. Press delete key to Delete path, create new layer on top rename it as color and change its blending mode to Color.



19. Use gradient as you like, I am using blue color gradient show in image.



20. For more fun add black to light black color to background layer.



21. Create a New layer under text, go to Line tool and create horizontal line about 20 px under the text.



22. Go to Filter - Gaussian Blur - Keep Radius amout as 12 px.



23. Decrease the opacity of layer to 65%.

23. Make a duplicate of Text layer and flip it Vertically, decrease it opacity to 10%.

24. Use marquee selection give it 10 feather (Shift+F6) and delete some text as show in image.
