Funso AIYEJINA (Nigeria, 1949- ), a poet, short story writer, playwright. Born in Ososo, Nigeria. Presently teaching at the University of the West Indies. Publications: A Letter to Lynda and Other Poems (1998), The Legend of the Rockhills and Other Stories (1999) and I, The Supreme & Other Poems (2004). Winner of the “Association of Nigerian Authors’ Poetry Prize” and “Best First Book (Africa), Commonwealth Writers' Prize”.
Marion BETHEL (Bahamas, 1953- ), poet, short story writer, playwright. Born and lives in Nassau, the Bahamas. Poetry collection: Guanahani, My Love (in English/ Spanish)(1995). Winner of the “Casa de Las Americas Prize”.
Rita Ann HIGGINS (Ireland, 1955- ), poet, playwright. Born in Galway, Ireland, and still lives there. Poetry collections: Goddess & Witch (1990), Philomena’s Revenge (1992), Higher Purchase (1996), Sunny Side Plucked: New & Selected Poems (1996) An Awful Racket (2001); plays: Face Licker Come Home (1991), God of the Hatch Man (1992), Colie Lay Doesn’t Live in a Bucket (1993) and Down All the Roundabouts (1999). Winner of the “Peadar O’Donnell Award”.
Tim MCNULTY (USA, 1949- ), poet and nature writer. Poetry collections: Pawtracks (1978), Tundra Songs (1982), Reflected Light (1990), In Blue Mountain Dusk (1992) and Through High Still Air, a Season on Sourdough Mountain (2005); nature history books: Grand Canyon National Park: Window on the River of Time (1986), Olympic National Park: A Natural History (2003). Winner of the “Governor’s Writers Award” and the “National Outdoor Book Award”.
Mike O’CONNOR(USA, 1944-)poet, translator of Chinese poetry; engaged in horse-logging and tree planting in the Olympic Mountains, Washington State, and lived years in Taiwan; MFA in writing, Naropa University; poetry collections: The Basin, Life in a Chinese Province (1988) and When the Tiger Weeps (2004); English translations by Chinese poet Chia Tao (779-843) and Buddhist poet-monks in the past, and a novel by Tong Nien (1950- ) from Taiwan.
Vivienne PLUMB (New Zealand, 1955- ), poet, playwright, fiction writer. Born in Sidney; lived in New Zealand since 1974. MA in writing, Victoria University. Poetry collections: Salamanca (1998), Avalanche (2000), Nefarious (2004); plays and short stories: The Wife who spoke Japanese in Her Sleep (1993), Love Knots (1994), Secret City (2003), Fact or Fiction: Meditations on Mary Finger (2003). Winner of the “Hubert Church Prose Award” and the “Bruce Mason Playwrighting Award”.
LIU Ka-shiang (Taiwan, 1957- ), nature writing, poet, fiction writer. BA in Journalism, Wen-Hua University, Taipei. Poetry collections: The Views of a Little Flying Squirrel (1988), The Most Beautiful Moments (2001); prose: Grand Tours in Formosa (1999), A Day Astray in a Small Town (2002), Vegetables and Fruits, Forgotten (2006); fiction: Helianmama the Humpback Whale (1993). Winner of the “Taiwan Poetry Award”, the “Wu San-lian Award” and the “Wu Lu-ching Prose Award”.
