Flight mode
Recently during our annual road show I had to take to plane a few times after a full day's presentation to get to the next venu and set up for the following day.
On this particular trip as I change my phone to "mode avion" from nantes to lyon it struck me how cost effectiveness has become a major factor in air travel these days.
The last time I took a flight it was a long haul and altjough a bit cramped it seemed that the space per person was 'reasonable'.
On the lyon flight all the overhead cabins were full so i had to squeeze my hand luggage on the floor in front of my seat as kept it in place with a foot on eiter side.
I was seated in between two strangers so I had miniscule armrest battles on both fronts.
My two silent antagonists didn't seem to realize that there's a flu epidemic going on as both sneezed heartily with putting hand to mouth.
As always after a long day some of the nearby passengers suffered or rather made others suffer from their over active perspiration glands.
The steward served a tiny packet of a sort of bretzel with an equally generous tomato juice.
Mentally I tried to escape to a semi meditative state.
Luckily the flight only lasted 50 minutes but on landing there was the usual frantic rush to empty the overhead cabins an get out.
We're always rushing to get there, get in, get out and get gone. ho hum.
Finally the train's not so bad.
