Grape Escape!

Why is it that writing a blog post is difficult for me? I always feel like I have nothing to report, which is never true. Maybe I just hate writing. I think that I'm so bothered by stupid posts on other people's blogs that noone could possibly care about ("My cat farted! LOWELL!") that I'd rather post nothing than something like that.

Short and hopefully interesting:

-Of the three interviews I have had at Johns Hopkins, one has officially rejected me, but I'm still fairly optimistic about the other two. I should know more tomorrow. Which is...

-My birthday. June 4th. Wikipedia says that a few awesome attrocities occured on June 4th, most notably the ending of the Tiananmen Square protests by a bunch of tanks, but also including a train disaster in Russia, the Stockport Air disaster, and Ten-Cent Beer Night. Badass!!

-I finally made it to Eulogy with Abby last night for dinner. That place is crazy. The owner is opening a much larger place come July, which I am now 3x psyched for.

- Awesome party at Joe's on Friday. Met the illusive .Ed, with which I discussed anime and such most of the night. Also, American Gladiators were sweeter than I remembered.

- Am very excited for V's triumphant return home from LA (which isn't a return so much as a visit, but fuck you). It shall be... SPAAAARRTAAAA!



Yuck. I really hate my blog posts. Also, making overplayed movie references make me feel dirty.

I made this Google Coop search a while ago. It works pretty well for finding beer shtuffs. Also, yay for St. Patricks Day! Everyone get drunks!

So its been awhile... I was in MD for a week-ish, doing works. Stayed with Abby but didn't get a chance to see her or go out much. Still a fun (and free!) trip.

I've been meaning to post a new thread in the group's forums about this, as we never ever talk about it, but I'll kick tha start by posting here as well...
I listen to some strange music. Right now I'm into mashups mostly, but I also buy MixMag ( http://www.mixmag.net ) every month and listen to the attached free (not really free as its a fucking $10 magazine) CD. This months was pretty good, ""Disco 2006"" even though nothing on it could be called disco by common definition, mixed by Erol Alkan. The real stand-out track for me was Switch's remix of Spank Rock's Bump. I have never heard anything from Switch or Spank Rock to the best of my knowledge before this. Holy crap. Fanfuckingtastic is all I can say. And, Spank Rock is based out of Bawlmer! Seredipitous! You can listen to the original version here or erol playing Switch's version here. Anyway, I'm trying to find more stuff with the female rapper that collaborates with Spank Rock on a few tracks and is the center-piece vocals on the Switch Bump. Her name's Amanda Blank and she's ridiculous. Drop me a comment if you know anything.

As to mashups, they are everywhere and free, for the most part. There is a pretty large scene based around the San Fran club Bootie ( http://www.bootiesf.com ) and DJ Earworm has some great links on his site as well ( http://www.djearworm.com ). Check it all out! Give this in particular a listen-to.
