Running for Elected Office - Municipal (Or CIty) Council.

There probably are a variety of reasons why someone wants to run in local politics.
In my case it was a fairly easy decision. It was my opinion that the existing Council Member was not doing a sufficent enough job to merit being re-elected. So I asked the question who would I like to see do the best possible work for the residents of my community? Well, to my estimation, I could not think of anyone else who I knew of, that would want the job, and was willing to put the hours in to do things the way I felt they should be done.
So, with a limited budget, a little bit of encouragement, and a token registration fee. I nominated me to run for municipal council.
I set up a web blog, an advertising slogan, had candidate cards printed up, and began the process of finding out what others thought of the way things were run in our city.
Well, the results were quite interesting. I will leave the analysis for another blog. You can check the results on the City of Toronto Web Pages for Election 2006.
