JACK GIELEN, Hamilton Republican Mayoral Candidate for a Healthier, Happier Hamilton 2010

•More open council meetings, with no hidden agendas.
•Encourage participatory democracy with binding local referenda’s.
•Accepting all citizens as equals in our community under a united constitution.
•Rates restricted to core services.
•Protecting our assets from privateers particularly water, sewage and libraries.
•Improved water quality in the river.
•Special support for the disadvantaged.
•Park development for families and recreation.

I’ve worked as a freezing worker, union delegate, wastewater operator, salesman, community radio promoter, counsellor, pastor and activist. This range of experience along with rowing and musical interests readily relates me to the people of Hamilton.

My family and friends know I’m a real Hamiltonian.
To move our city forward I will bring these issues to the fore.

Republicans Opposing Price William Opening New Supreme Court

On the Monday 18th of January outside the new supreme court in Wellington, we (The Republic Of New Zealand party) told Prince William to “go home” because monarchs should not be involved in opening a building that no longer has anything to do with the English monarchy. We are supposed to have stopped asking England to run our judicial system, so why ask the prince (at the expense of the people of this country) to open something that has nothing to do with him.

Father Suicides a Horror Story

Father suicides are a horror story says Kerry Bevin, spokesman for the Working Party on Suicide.

Recent years have accumulated thousands of father suicides and fatherless children. Male denigration in advertising, father persecution with child support extortion, child alienation from fathers and abuse from false allegations in the Family Court, neglect of Men’s health with depression and prostate problems and the growing failure of boys in feminised education have created a family devastation by de-fathering, that is the shame of a civilized world, he said.

Mr Bevin said the anti-male legacy of the Clark Labour coalition who set about ‘affirmative action’ for female rights trampled on equal rights for males, generating a gender biased society that delivers a deadly “Man Toll”.
He said that father suicides have long been much higher than murdered females and are the hidden shame of family violence fuelled by male persecution. “An inquiry into male suicide is long overdue.”

According to Mr Bevin, a Ministry of Men’s Affairs is necessary to balance aberrant social policy and law.

“The skeletons of father suicide must come out of the cupboard and the blood on the hands of feminasties must be seen so this devastation can be redressed,” he said.

A petition for an inquiry into male suicide is being launched at Parliament on Monday 18 January at 1pm, with further protest action at other anti-male agencies supported by other ‘suffragents’ Fathers Coalition, Union of Fathers and the Republic of New Zealand Party

Bye Bye Wills! Bye Bye Gov-General! Bye Bye Royal Pomp!

It’s time for Kiwis to say Bye Bye to royal pomp, says Kerry Bevin, a spokesman for the Republic of New Zealand Party.
New Zealand Republicans will be at the opening of the Supreme Court building to tell William to go home.
“Elizabeth is the last monarch down under, Charles is not required.”
Mr Bevin said that Kiwis could make their own judgments. He said that we do need to scrutinize the appointment of Judges carefully, considering some of the debacles that occur in our Justice system.
“Who are our Supreme Court Judges?” Mr Bevin asked.
According to Mr Bevin John Key’s reinstatement of knighthoods is a leap backwards to the Middle Ages.
“Does he want to be tapped on the shoulder too?”
Mr Bevin said the National Coalition lacks the vision for constitutional reform to move New Zealand forward. We need a constitution that makes all kiwis equal, protects our human rights and defines us as independent from English traditions as their former colonies have.
“Even our former colony, Samoa has a constitution.”
Mr Bevin claimed more Kiwis were interested in having their own honours, the Queen’s profile off our money and a new national flag. Separate Maori representation is divisive. No head of state is necessary in a ‘real’ Republic.
The Republic of New Zealand Party wants to give all citizens a New Start by developing a constitution that claims our true identity as a proud Pacific nation.

Drunk Driver Gets Away With Killing Cyclist

Repeat drink driver Alison Downer gets off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist for deliberately killing cyclist Frank van Kampen on September 18 2009. This is not right. She now is free to keep killing, she does not care that she killed him, it means nothing to her as she is a regular drink driver and does not care about the damage and injury or death she causes.

Woman Gets Away With Letting Her Pack Of Killer Dogs Cause Injury

"Tara Margaret Tuhakaraina, 29, appeared in Tokoroa District Court yesterday (13/11/2009) for sentencing under the Dog Control Act on eight charges of owning a dog causing injury." She gets off with a slap on the wrist, "200 hours' community work, and ordered to pay $2000 to the victim. Police had sought a 12-month prison sentence." $2000 would not cover the medical bills or rehabilitation. The fact that she may have helped in a small way to stop the dogs should not let her off from having the pack of uncontrolled killer dogs to start with.

"her eight unregistered bull-terrier cross pig dogs attacked Margit Christensen, 36, on Hildreth Rd, west of Putaruru on August 3." http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/3062080/Dog-owner-avoids-jail-for-coming-to-victims-aid

She is now free to endanger the lives of other people without any real penalty. Nothing to stop her owning another pack of killer dogs (she does not register them, and no one is stopping her from owning more or will be checking to see how many dogs she owns now or in the future). Next time she and any new pack of dogs may manage to kill someone. Nothing to stop her, no penalty to discourage her.

Cyclist critical after Tamaki Drive 'carnage'

Read this article Cyclist critical after Tamaki Drive 'carnage' http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10599817

The law needs to come down harder on car drivers that do not bother to pay attention on the road, or as in this case deliberately speed up to scare of run in to cyclists. This will be another case where the driver will get at worst a small fine, no jail time and loss of licence (maybe) for only a short time. Drivers get away with these sorts of things because they go 'oops, i got the pedals mixed up' or 'oops, the sun was in my eyes' or expect that a sorry is good enough. This is wrong. There is no way you could not see a group like this long before they are in front of you and wait for them to pass. The woman was just not paying attention. She should get a separate charge for each person hit by her or because of her knocking them in to someone else, she should get a separate charge for each person that dies (if this happens) but no, she will get one minor careless driving charge and be back out driving and running people over, she most likely already is since cyclists are not 'important' road users and are expendable. But she will get off with minor slap on the wrist.

Capital and Coast District Health Board is sexist. No gastric bypasses for men.

Capital and Coast District Health Board is sexist. No gastric bypasses for men, only for women.

Ron Blair, 68, who weighs 132 kilograms, was referred for the potentially life-saving operation by his heart specialist in July but turned down by Capital and Coast District Health Board because he is a man.

In a letter to his specialist, surgeon Kusal Wickremesekera revealed that "as a male, [Mr Blair] falls outside our current guidelines for surgery".

From an article By TIM DONOGHUE and RUTH HILL in The Dominion Post
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/2905232/Denied-weight-loss-surgery-because-he-is-a-man

Yet the health boards happily fun cosmetic surgery for women that are feeling 'upset' about their looks.

Shows men have less value in society now.

Red Light Cameras

I just read an article on red light cameras, "Red light runners rile police" By LEIGHTON KEITH - Taranaki Daily News.

Red light cameras are a great idea. Most serious accidents and crimes have their beginnings in small crimes like ignoring red lights and other laws or in the case of car hitting bike, not giving 1.5 metres space when passing. Same goes for stop signs, giveway signs, not giving way to pedestrians crossing on zebra (and other) crossings.

At some point running (speeding up at) yellow lights, going 5km/hr over speed limit becomes running red lights and sitting 20km/hr over speed limit. Then the number of accidents goes up and the harm done goes up. Gone are the days when we saw police in town that stopped someone if they ran a red light or raced a yellow, or such crazy things.

What happens is what people consider 'normal' changes until they have a major accident.

One thing i notice a lot (as a cyclist) is the number of times a car will be tooting at the car (or bike) in front to move when the light is still red or the person has stopped on a yellow light in accordance with the road code (when light goes yellow slow and stop if it is safe to do so). So many people speed up on yellow lights, "yellow means go faster".

Something needs to be done to reverse this trend before it becomes extremely dangerous.

eDay is a con. Research the truth.

eDay is a con. Research the truth.

"In 2008 946 tonnes" of e-waste was gathered.
What is not excepted is: televisions, radios, stereos, DVD players, video recorders, other home appliances. Yet these are all electronic waste. But do not have the same levels of precious metals as computer parts and often have no reusable parts (often a dead TV is a dead TV and not worth fixing).

They say waste will be "recycled by accredited recyclers using accepted international practices to ensure the safety of workers and maximise the recovery of materials." But a number of documenteries and investigations have proven the opposite. Often it is sold to a 'middle man' that on sells it. Non is processed in New Zealand under New Zealand regulations. Often it is a local (or most often Australian or American) company that buys the waste from the collectors you donated it to, they then ship it to Asia where they have a 'processing plant' that adheres to the local laws and standards of that country for health and safety and environment which are non-existent (or officials are bribed).

The companies doing it are doing it to get free computer parts to on sell, often to poor countries and profits from precious metals at the expense of the health of poor people. Once it leaves New Zealand we have no control over where it goes or what happens to it. Often it goes to a company that has a good looking plant set up, but they can not make a profit from processing it there so most is on sold.

The parts that are not usable are sold to poor countries and communities to recycle the gold and other metals and chemicals. Often poisoning these people due to no safety gear. this also poisons the environment as the gases created are going into the air and poisonous chemicals are going into rivers etc. A lot of asian countries have 'dead' rivers because of this.
So these supposed 'good' companies are using your freely given waste to make a profit off the poor, poisoning the environments of these communities and poisoning the people that have to do this work (in countries that have not safety laws).

So enjoy helping to poison people in poor countries and the environment will making big profits for the countries that run eDay.

Do not take my word for it, do the research yourself.
Do not take the word of the companies that do it, do the research.
