Well Represented

This is not all of the debriefing it only has the parts that have me in it. And there was another member of the TXSG there incharge of me.

Good afternoon 401st,
This was a good weekend for the 401st. not named and AB Allen
volunteered to be sent TDY(?) to the Dignity Vietnam Memorial that was in
Pflugerville for the weekend to honor those who served in Vietnam.

This is the official debrief.

On Saturday (June 2nd) AB Allen and not named spent the day on the wall helping
friends, families and tourists find names on the wall. It was during
this task that AB Allen showed great professionalism and dedication.

not named and AB Allen spent
all day on the wall in the sun and heat. AB Allen never once showed
weakness or complained. He was noticed and not named was complimented on his
performance several times that day by both veterans visiting and the
people who organized the event.

This was a very moving experience and it was VERY hard to maintain military
bearing with all the emotion and history bearing hard on our shoulders.

Again not named was complimented on AB Allen and it was
remarked that "the Texas State Guard was very well represented" at the
ceremonies.

On Sunday (June 3rd) AB Allen and not named both returned to the wall. AB
Allen chauffeured visitors

When the last name was read (continuously the names were read aloud by
volunteers) AB Allen and not named were asked by several Vietnam veterans to
join them in a salute to the "Soldier's Cross" as the last name was read.
not named was unable to make it before they were called to attention, but not named did
witness it. AB Allen was the only non-Vietnam veteran to salute.

This is a HUGE honor especially since it was known by the vets that AB Allen is
still in school and never has served.

Needless to say the TXSG was as it was said, "well represented" at the wall.
