To begin with I was never gone, just didn't felt like posting anything. I'm still here, reading the forums, people's blogs, taking pictures...Lately I've been shooting a LOT, I started taking my camera(Film camera, Zenit E with Helios 44-2 lens) with me pretty much everywhere(except for that one place
), I go out and take pictures almost every day, and it really is loads of fun, going to photo meets, meeting people who think alike and enjoy similar things. Here's a photoalbum from a local photography forum meet: Link to photo albumRecently I started shooting with film instead of digital camera, generally I'm supposed to belong to the "digital generation", despite that I was still really curious how does the analog way of taking pictures work, so I found an old Zenit E laying around in my dads closet, and took it out for a spin. Got a bunch of film, and started shooting, shot 2 rolls of film shot already. I can't wait to get the film processed and scanned, I hope there'll be some good stuff there

Coxy today asked me who are the people in my photos, the answer is pretty simple: its the people around me, friends, family, classmates, and fellow photo-hogs

The new Internet Channel (IC) for Nintendo Wii

Nintendo has just started distributing the much-anticipated new version of the IC for Nintendo Wii. It has lots of new features users have asked for, also its a free upgrade for those who already have older version, for those new users wishing to subscribe, the IC can be purchased from the Wii Shop Channel menu for 500 Wii points.So, to name a few new and shiny features:
- USB keyboard support - You just simply plug any standard USB keyboard into one of the two USB ports on your Nintendo Wii and you are ready to write email, compose blog posts, comment in forums and much more.
- "Send to a Friend" - this enables you to send links to your favorite Web sites - or the one you are currently browsing - to your Wii friends whom you have added in your Wii. You can also add a message to send along with the link. When your Wii friend opens the message, they can immediately visit the page.
- Copy & Paste text from websites
- Widget support - Widgets available now include calendars, news readers, Internet radios and other fun applications. For more information on creating widgets, please visit widgets.opera.com with your Wii.
- Numerous usability improvements - for making your browsing experience more pleasant

Yesterday I upgraded to a new Ubuntu Linux version, named Gutsy Gibbon, it works just great(seems to work faster), even though its not even a beta version yet. After installing it all I decided to go get and compile latest version Compiz-fusion as the default one didn't work quite right. After hanging out a bit on #desktop-effects and #compiz-fusion I was pointed at this guide, which really helped me a lot in the process: http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=1985
Compiz fusion has lots of nice plugins which add some nice features and eyecandy to your desktop, just like the Magic lamp animation you can see in the screenshot below, or the Widget layer, just like in the screenshot on the right. Search youtube for "Compiz-fusion", you'll find millions of videos made by users showing its features off.
After installing all the needed stuff(see the guide) all you have to do is to enable Widget Layer plugin and use this option for it to work with opera widgets: "role=opera-widget". And that's it, you're done, though it wasn't that easy for me, Compiz was crashing for me, but with help of nice guys at #compiz-fusion-dev I managed to make a crashlog. 13 minutes after submiting it I got notified that one of the guys already wrote a fix, it was up in the git repository in few more minutes, after that I just downloaded and installed the fixed version.
That's one big plus to the Open Source community, where else would you get a bug fixed that fast?
