Who's that Ramūnas of which you speak?

Firefox!

, , , ,

As I read on http://avencius.nl/ Alastor (hey ) decided to give firefox a try, I thought why not do the same, and so I did, today whole day long I've been using firefox.

Its pretty great once you install all those extensions, though the process is kind of long and annoying, if you don't really know what extensions do you need, you download, install, restart the browser, don't like it, uninstall, restart again. Restarts after uninstalling themes and extensions are really annoying. You really need like a gazillion extensions, you even need one for simple features like "paste and go" button or ability to make status bar auto hide.

Though there's one thing I wasn't able to get, that is the ability to show URL of the link once you hover it in the tooltip just like in opera, only way to see the URL seems to be using status bar.

Ok, now to the good part:
Firefox seems to handle flash plugin way better than Opera, videos don't lag when switching tabs.
It has some nice skins, some of them look better than Opera's. P:
Also it has 2 really great extensions: FasterFox and AdBlock Plus
Google sites work with it without any warnings P:

Have you ever tried really using firefox? what do you think about it? Oh, and I'm still not sure about swiching to the darkside P: Sorry if this post doesn't make too much sense, I'm just not too good at writing longer texts, I keep jumping from one thought to another.
P.S Remco and Alastor I'm still going to win those opera competitions, so you can't have my stuff P:

FireFox is a heavy loading, clunky thing, while Opera is lightweight and lightfooted. But right now I am using Konqueror on my PCLinuxOS 2007  I have it as my only OS on my laptop. The more you get to know Konqueror and its integration in the KDE environment, the better it seems.

Ah, and no antivirus!

Heh, Alastor dragged me back to Opera, and I'm loving it again

My mum always tells me I have big (bad) influence on my surroundings

In my opinion the biggest disadvantage with firefox extensions is that, (sometimes)they are not compatible between versions..; this can be very annoying

I would love to see an update manager, like in firefox for Opera in kestrel or peregrine. .
Some people don't upgrade to any newer version of Opera because they're afraid they might loose their settings.

tut, tut Ramunas.

Ofcourse you get pro-Opera comments when posting on my.OPERA.com ;-)

I must say I like Firefox a lot. Yes it takes "a while" to load, but it doesn't bother me. I always have it loaded.

The extensions are so nice .. for example I have an extension that tells me what ASN is used by the current homepage. And one that tells me the local weather.

So, people ... discuss Opera, Firefox and other "browsers", but don't exagerate the pro's of your favorite and the con's of the others

I like Firefox too, and it is my 'alternative' browser for those sites (usually on-line banks) that don't handle Opera too well. Those and My Space!

I have gone to the dark side once but the plain lack of build-in features in Firefox drove me back to Opera. I still use Firefox for development purposes, Konqueror and IE too for that matter. Konqueror is the closest I can get to Safari rendering.

both are great.
I'm using both of them, depending of my surf needs, habits and how some website react.

What, an opportunity to diss Firefox? =)

It's otherwise fine but I just can't live with the interface. It's so clumsy and slow to use when compared to Opera's. Also, I really like the mail client in Opera which Fx lacking.
