Who's that Ramūnas of which you speak?

New feature in Opera!

,

A new feature has been presented in the latest weekly build of Opera, its called "speed dial". You can see a small screenshot of it on the right.
Its basically a list of the sites with thumbnails you can click on and that will open you the site, oh and it also has a search field on the top.
So get it, and test it out!

You can get the weekly build here: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/show.dml/785941
P.S make sure you read "Known issues" part before installing

For those of you who want to change the search engine in the field at the top of the speed dial: opera:config#UserPrefs|SpeedDialSearchType

Oh, and one more thing, tomorrow there's a chat with Jon von Tetzchner one of the Opera founders, so feel free to join in and ask him a couple of questions, more info on the chat can be found here: http://my.opera.com/WebApplications/blog/2007/02/23/web-developer-chat-jon-von-tetzchner

Video Opera tutorials

, , , ...

I have made a few video tutorials of how to use Opera, I hope somebody will find them useful.
Let me know if you have some more ideas for the tutorials.
How to disable bittorrent client in Opera
How to connect to IRC with Opera
How to stop Transfers tab from popping up when you download a file
How to add custom seach engine with search keyword
How to mask as Firefox on the sites that block Opera (my.opera.com doesn't do that, its just an example.)

Update

If you haven't heard already there's an IRC chat room for Opera Community in Opera's IRC network, so come join us at irc://irc.opera.com/myopera (You can just click on the link if you're using Opera web browser).

You might be wondering what's up with the pic of this car, that's my model car I got for Christmas when I was a kid. Its a model of Ferrari F-40. I hope some day I'll get the real one, but for now I can at least look at it :D

Weather is freezing cold outside, right now its -19C, tonight it should get to -26C, though if it'll reach at least -24C I'll get to skip school, that's the law :D

I also got to test out new blog statistics, its great, lets hope it'll be available for the masses soon. Oh, and as you've probably read, there should be a community upgrade soon :hat:

P.S Opera Mini 3.1 was released today, you can read more about it here: http://my.opera.com/operamini/blog/2007/02/21/opera-mini-3-1-released

Still no spring...

Still no spring here, this winter doesn't seem to be going anywhere, this morning we got more snow. :frown:

I decided to get more RAM for my PC, so hopefully I'll be able to get another gig of ram, and lets hope editing images will be a bit faster, as handling 13MB RAW files with adobe Lightroom isn't such an easy task for my current 512MB of RAM.

BTW: if anybody's still reading my blog, please leave a comment here, so I'd know if somebody actually reads my posts, thanks

Some boring stuff

,

Weeks just seem to be flying through really fast, lets hope soon enough we'll have good weather again, because all that wind, snow and cold is driving me nuts.

Somehow school isn't that hard anymore, and I even kind of enjoy it now. End of semester is here already, and I need to try harder on some subjects, I'm generally happy with my results, as I haven't tried much to change my marks.

I'm still learning to use my camera better, so far I love it, though I'm still going to buy new lens for it, I'm thinking of cheap Sigma 55-200mm lens, and right now I'm using Zuiko DIGITAL 17.5-45mm, so it lacks "zoom" power. If any of you know where I can buy it online for a decent price feel free to let me know.

Also Windows Vista is out already, imho its nowhere near MAC OS X, and as I can't afford an Apple computer I'm still sticking with my Ubuntu, with neat Beryl effects. Also there's a great post about Vista on Alex's blog, check it out

BTW: If you're using IRC be sure to visit IRC.opera.com #webapps chat room on February 1st at 5:00 PM CET, there will be a chat with our server monkey Ole Kasper Olsen about server side web stuff.

Camera ISO testcase

, , , ...

Yes!, its possible to use ISO 50 on your Olympus E-500 by using this hack: http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00JUYk
I've enabled ISO 50 on my Olympus E500.
And here are the results, taken with tripod in M mode with same settings, EXIF is there, so you can check other info yourselves.
*BIG images, beware those of you who have slow connections*

ISO 100: http://ramunas.ezoshosting.com/iso100.JPG

Decide does it work any better yourselves. Feel free to leave a comment here.
