Yes!, its possible to use ISO 50 on your Olympus E-500 by using this hack: http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00JUYk
I've enabled ISO 50 on my Olympus E500.
And here are the results, taken with tripod in M mode with same settings, EXIF is there, so you can check other info yourselves.

I tried it and all I get on the screen is.
OLYMPUS
E-500
I have tried this before an never got beyond that point.
I am at ver. 1.2 on the body and 1.1 with my 14-54 lens.
