Ravo’s Ego

Hi! I’m Ravo’s voluptuous assistant making a post while the boss is paralyzed with envy and amazement at the incredible gambling skills of one of his best friends. While the boss is disinclined to make any posts for a while, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to tell this tale.

The unnamed friend traveled the 120 miles from Salt Lake City to Wendover, Nevada last weekend to gamble and engage in other sins. In one night he made $70,000 by winning a 21 (Blackjack) tournament, and causing three video poker machines ($75. 00 per pull of the handle) to spill their coins all over the floor of the casino.

Ravo hasn’t done too badly either in playing the stock market.

A year ago, he was an ignoramus about the market, but he was determined to learn to play the game, cut out the middleman (brokerage/mutual funds), and he doesn’t gamble.

GuruFocus.com is a web site devoted to the principles of 'value investing'. They follow the trades of legendary money managers and keep track of their results over 6-month, 12- month and longer-term periods. If you haven't been having a great time in the market since last spring, you may take some consolation by seeing how many 'fund managers of the year' and other top-notch investors have been faring over the recent past. I have added Ravo’s name to the list (last entry) to provide some perspective:

All data is as of June 27, 2008:

His ego has grown so large that he has to tote it around in a wheelbarrow. It’s absolutely disgusting to see him swilling beer and stroking this obnoxious appendage as he lounges by the hot tub…….

Dear Ravos' Assistant,
Have no fear,
the Ravo I know and I got to love doesn't suffer from envy for too long.
He also doesn't like a long BS,
so I would suggest we both stop here and just tell him,
he is special.
Please tell him I kiss him passionately as I always do,
Angeliki
