Denmark and Sweden must defend freedom of the press

It is getting harder and harder to distinguish the Israelis from the Arabs. This is understandable in that both groups share common ancestry, and Israel is basically a semi-democratic theocracy. Apparently, it shares the same disdain for freedom of the press as is found in most Arabic countries.

I am prompted to make this post because of the disgusting behavior of the Israeli government with respect to an article published in the tabloid Aftonbladet, Sweden's top-selling newspaper, that accuses Israeli soldiers of engaging in organ harvesting of Palestinian kids. They have chosen to foam at the mouth about the article prior to engaging in any investigation of facts, and are calling for a boycott of products from Sweden.

Give me a break!

What kind of an example are they setting for freedom-loving peoples elsewhere? How can we demand that Saudi Arabia clean up their act when this kind of crap is going on next door? How can the United States support any country that engages in this kind of bad behavior? The country of Israel needs to get a life. After all, they largely prohibit missionaries of other religions from seeking converts in the country, and this latest episode confirms my suspicion that Israel might just be another Iran in disguise.

In this blog, I routinely excoriate the U.S. government and I have not had any knocks on the door in the middle of the night. If the NSA is monitoring my blog, I am sure I have pissed off a lot of people within the government, but I am allowed to express my opinion.

This is what freedom and democracy are all about, and Israel should be setting an example instead of mimicking their enemies with such nonsense. If the alleged activities by Israeli solders never occurred, they should be anxious to delve into the issue and present the facts before spouting off about a ‘Blood Libel’. They would gain a lot of respect instead of being ridiculed and denounced by people like me.

Stable democracies depend on a free press to counterbalance the propaganda disseminated by their governments. After all, politicians are subject to the forces of human nature just like the rest of us.

Freedom of the press worldwide

It's a savage backwater of everywhere...and all for the first 4 books of the bible..
I once floated the idea of giving the Jews a state near Utah with the other genetic throwbacks...then realised they'd probably start another Indian War..
=o}

As a genetic throwback living in Utah, I'd be among the first to gnaw on their legs if they showed up! troll

Interesting map, David. I think I'd move the U.S. one step closer to the red spectrum, though.

Keep lapping up those 'We rule the native pics' of North Africa in Nat. Geo and Discovery. Meanwhile they'll carry on with their oil, satellite phones & tv, fastboats, healthy food, latest cars & trucks, cruiseships and planes..
Do you want ketchup or apple sauce with your gnawing?

How dare you have a negative opinion about something Israel has done, Ravo. They'll start calling you an anti-Semite next! rolleyes wink

(Note for the suddenly enraged: I know he's not - I'm having a go at the 'standard response' some folks seem to have - almost by instinct and without thinking - against anyone who criticizes Israel).

Hi David & 53north, thanks for your comments.

I am on guard against the storm of bullshit no matter where it is blowing from, including the USA and the U.K. It is time to stop coddling the 'poor holocaust survivors' as well as the criminals and rapists in Africa. Although I was taught advanced mathematics by a full-blooded Cherokee Indian who I greatly respected, I also call bullshit on the myth of the Native American living 'in balance with nature'. What a load of crap! knight

Well, living within the ecological niche and not extincting species.
Also the Abo's had no large desert regions, just crops to each horizon. When the sheep farmers came, they ousted the 'gardeners' - rather like the Amazon beef ranchers..

Hi Kahaw, I totally agree with you. The people should be in charge of their governments. Thanks for the visit! smile
