Hands-On: Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview (Part 1)

, , , ...

Hello folks,

I just received my invitation to Microsoft Connect, the Microsoft service which gave me access to the Technical Preview of Microsoft Office 2010. I'm so excited to see the new features of this new product! I'm looking forward to install it and use it for a couple of days on a production system.

I will also connect my Windows Mobile 6.5 Smartphone to see the integration of the new services (if there are any).

I will keep you updated on this blog, as well as on the Dev-Vision and our Twitter Account.

Until then, I'll leave you with some related links and some videos on Microsoft Office 2010.

As always, I'm looking forward to your replies, feedback and comments on any of these (micro) blogs.

Cheers,
Razvan

Integrating Microsoft Bing Search Engine in Opera 10 Beta

, , ,

Before I start with my first post, I would like to say that this post was previously made available by myself on our FMG (Freelancers Managed Group), at Dev-Vision.com/blog. For those of you who may want to check the original blog post, please head over here.

As I mentioned before, here, Microsoft launched its new, much appreciated search engine, transforming the competition and bringing Bing in the top of the search engines, a place where Microsoft Live Search, unfortunately, never was. Now with the new Microsoft Yahoo Deal, apparently Bing will become a more powerful search engine, empowering Yahoo! search as well. So, why not use a decisional search engine with such a great browser? Let’s see how to integrate Bing in Opera browser. This will enable you to write, in the address bar, the following line:

   1: b Dev-Vision

to search for Dev-Vision in Bing. Bing will also appear in the search engine combo box, near the address bar. Let’s see how to do it!

  • In Opera Browser go to Tools > Preferences (or, simply, press CTRL+F12)
  • Go to the Search tab.
  • First, let’s change the default keyword for BitTorrent: click on BitTorrent in the search engine list, then click Edit…. Here, change the keyword from b to t (to remember, t as in Torrent). Than click OK.
  • Back in the Search tab, click on Add…

bing_in_se

  • Fill-up the text boxes, in the Search Engine form like this:
   1: Name: Microsoft Bing
   2: Keyword: b
   3: Address: http://www.bing.com/search?q=%s&form=QBLH&filt=all

  • Click OK and OK again to close the Preferences window.

To test the new added search engine, type b Opera Browser in the Opera’s address bar.

Enjoy Bing in Opera Browser and remember that Opera Browser is about the way you want to use your computer, the way you want to navigate, thus giving you the ability to improve every feature of it and this is only one of many Opera has!

Cheers,

Razvan
