I live on Planet Japan

About a guy who lives in Tokyo Japan

Drinking Cruise

, ,

I went on a fantastic cruise this weekend with a few of my friends. For 2500 Yen you get on a small ship that goes around Tokyo Bay, it takes about 3 hours all together. While on the ship you can drink as much beer as you want for free. You can also buy food as well. They give you some food coupons so I ended up not spending anymore then the initial cost. I have this problem when It comes to free beer and time limits. I feel I have to consume as much beer a I can in the time alloted or I have failed all of man kind.

I went along with my good friends Mitsuko, Kaouri, Maki, and two of Kaouri's friends who were visiting from Korea. I was the only guy, lucky me :ninja: One of the Korean girls was a little too popular among the drunk Japanese guys and I almost had to hit a drunk guy who was getting really aggressive towards her. Guess they bring me along for the protection. It's ok though, I don't mind.

I need a cool top banner

,

I do not know how to design it but I need a snazzy Tokyo looking banner for the top of my blog. I wonder if anyone out there has the ability and inclination to design such a thing for me. I will be forever in your debt and buy you a beer of you come see me in Tokyo.

Do you know where your Recruiter is?

Well I am sitting in the conference room at one of our Nagoya Schools. I come over to Nagoya a few times a month to hire new teachers for this area. I am actually pretty good at this job, I manage to get so many good people they told me to stop hiring so much. :D With pleasure I say, now I can sit here and type in this blog.

Where have I been? Well if you care I have just been lazy/busy/sleepy and this blog got a low priority on the list of things to do. Recently I have been more in the mood so i figured I would try to get things back up to date.

Ok here is a totally un-interesting time line of what I have been doing for the last year

July 2006 - Its hot, damn hot in Tokyo, was living in a guest house where one my my idiot house mates would never close the window. I love 100% humidity

June 2006 - See July

Aug - 2006 - See July

Sep 2006 - How am I really supposed to remember what I did for the last year haha

Nov 2006- Come on lets just be honost with each other, I really have no clue what I was doing.

Oct 2006 - I am sure I partied a lot, drank a lot, ran all over Tokyo in a random fashion.

Dec - Ok this month ad a highlight. Me and Nao started drinking at about 9am until 10pm at night. At some point we randomly started to wander around Koenji where I bumped into one of my co-workers who could not even comprehend what we were doing hanging around the station, drunk, like a couple of homeless people. It was a great day for sure.

Jan 2007 - I went to a pretty good fireworks show, the Japanese love fireworks so they always have som good shows going on.

Feb 2007 - It was cold but by this point I had moved into my own apartment so I made sure the damn window was closed.

March - June 2007 - I mainly worked, partied, drank, drank more, hung out with my friends. Oh I went to Hakone, that was pretty cool. Id like to go there on a day when I am not horrible hung over from the day before.

July 2007 - Here we are. I just moved into a new apartment, great place although I am not really big on the location. I will put some pictures and stuff up. I don't have net access there yet HELP ME NAO but I am working on it.

Peace guys

Hi All

It has really been a long time. I feel guilty for being gone so long. I need to be better at this blog thing. I work a lot, im lazy, and I am very bad at keeping my blog up.

Well I am still in Japan, got a great job, make about 300,000 yen a month, have a small apartment, and love beer.

I need to jump all over this blog and keep it up to date.

Sorry my friends, I will be better, I will try hard.

I am still alive

I have been really bad recently with my blog. It is a combination of lazy and busy, but mostly lazy.

I have not been doing too much. I took a trip to Mt. Fuji that was 100% not fun, never go there if you have the chance. I got a new job in my company, I will not be teaching English anymore, I will be doing HR stuff in the head office. The new job is as a Recruitrer for potential GABA instructors. The job seemed really interesting to me because I think I can make use of some of my old police interview skills. Ofcourse its not the same totaly but some of the core things are the same. It should be fun and more money, maybe I can move into a nice apartment somewhere here in Tokyo. I am starting to really think long term here, I am not sure when or if I will go back to the US, I guess I will just think about it if the time comes up. Fow now things are fine so I am not in any kind of rush to leave. I hope I can get more active in my blog, I just need to take it easy on the lazy (^_^)

はなび (Hanabi)

Hanabi is the Japanese word for Fireworks. There are shows all around Japan every Sunday throughout the Summer time. Although a bit crowded some of shows are really great. People often dress in a traditional outfit called a Yukata and watch the shows. I went to the show in Yokohama last weekend and I plan to go to the big Tokyo Bay show next month. I really love fireworks so this is a great time to be in Japan.

The Monkey has moved to Japan

When I was about 5 years old my Grandfather took me to a place in Florida called “Circus World.” As the name implies it was a circus theme park. I don’t really remember the place well and it has long since closed down. One time when I was there my Grandfather got me this little Monkey puppet. I was never allowed to take the Monkey home with me but anytime I went to my Grandparents house the Monkey could come out and see me. Of course I knew my grandfather was controlling the monkey but all the grandchildren still loved to see it. The Monkey lived in a dresser drawer in my Grandfathers room and always had to go back to the drawer when it felt “sleepy.” When my Grandfather died and my family all went insane trying to claim his world possessions I managed to get over to the house and get The Monkey. It’s the only thing I took as I refused to get involved in the greed that was consuming my family. I was later given my Grandfathers watch but that’s another story. Anyhow, The Monkey moved into a drawer in my bedroom and had lived there for a couple years. The new generation of kids was not very interested in the monkey so he did not come out very often. After I moved to Japan the monkey was left behind at my mom’s house. When I returned to the US for my friends wedding I got the monkey and he traveled back to Japan with me. Now the monkey lives in a suitcase in my room. Once I decide what the hell I am doing with my life I will find a more suitable place for the monkey to live. Until then I will keep the monkey safe here with me here in Tokyo.

Back from the US

Actually I have been a few days but did not have a chance to post anything. The wedding was nice and it was a lot of fun. Sadly most of my time was spent flying but I really did not have much choice. I had to get back to Japan ASAP because of work. I don’t get paid holidays so if I am not teaching I don’t get any money. It is ok though because my job is pretty cool. Nit much else has been going on, I get paid today, this is my first full check so I can stop spending my US money all the time. I need to try to save some money back up as well. I did buy a new laptop but it has not arrived yet, it’s a really nice one and I am looking forward to getting it. Now that I don’t have my desktop PC here I can’t do much on my current laptop. It is good for email and internet and that’s about it. Going back to Florida was strange, because my house was rented out I felt like a homeless person. I got to see my dogs for about an hour to. It was sad though because I miss Terri a lot. I will be happy when I can finally bring here over here.

Going to planet USA for a few days

,

I am taking a short trip back to the land of cheap beer aka the USA tomorrow. My best friend Mike is getting married and I will attend his wedding in Orlando. I am happy to see him but that’s a long flight for just a few days. I have to get back to Japan ASAP because my current job does not have paid vacation. So if I don’t work I don’t get paid. I like GABA and I would like to move up in the company but I am afraid I won’t be making enough money to sustain myself without working 12 hours a day. I have been looking around a bit for some other teaching opportunities but nothing concrete has come along yet. It’s ok though for now I am ok. As long as I make near 200,000 Yen a month I can get along ok. I just don’t have a ton of extra money. I have been thinking about taking a trip to Peru to visit a friend I have there but I am going to need to save about 3000 grand for the trip so I don’t see that happening this year. Maybe in 07 I can swing it. I want to take a trip to Sapporo this year to so I need to save for that trip as well. There is so much adventure to be had but so little money to spend ha-ha. However my life is pretty good and I am happy for the most part. I just need to find some ways to get a little more income flowing in and try to keep so much from flowing out. (^_^)

My new bike

I got this cool bike the other day. Now that I have it I know all the girls love me and chase me down the street. So I ring my little bell and ride along with glee. Ok so maybe that’s not true but it does get to work faster and it has a nice little basket for me to store all my goods from the 99 yen store (^_^). I never imagined I would be one of those people driving down the street on a bike with a basket but I guess Japan does things to people, makes you crazy, and makes you ride bikes with bells and baskets. The bike is kind of useful though so it was a good buy. So if you ever come to Kichijoji look for me big pimpin on my new bike (^_^)
