I live on Planet Japan

About a guy who lives in Tokyo Japan

Still here :)

Sorry I have not been a good blogger but I have been so busy in Japan I hardly have time to sleep. Of course by busy I mean going out and getting trashed almost nightly. I am sure my liver hates this country by now.

Japan has so many good places to eat and drink; you could do a month and never go to the same place twice, all minutes from where you live. I really like the food here. Of course the beer is not bad either.

My school has been so so, I really have not learned much. They really focus on writing and very little on conversation. I am looking for a new school now because I really want to learn to communicate. After that I will think about writing. You really don't even need to be able to read Japanese since most everything is in roman letters anyhow. Anyhow, I am having fun and I think I will just run away and never go back to my life.

I made it

I made it and everything is good. It was a long flight and I did not sleep for 48 hours but that’s just one of those things. The first couple days here have been really busy. I went to Shinjuku the first day to get my room key. The map was a little hard to follow but I managed to find the place. I got all the papers signed paid my rent and headed out. I rode the train to Kanda station, its was a pretty short trip. I located my room; it was really close to the station, only about a 5 min walk. The room is small but it’s not that bad, getting my 50 ton suitcase up the stairs was the hard part. I swear I am going to just throw it out the window when I leave here. I ate some ramen and drank some beer. Monday is a Japanese holiday and I really don’t have any plans, I am not sure what I am going to do. Kanda is so close to everything I can go about anywhere. I went to Akihabara yesterday, which was cool. Akihabara is a town where they sell tons of gadgets and electronics. I just walked around but I did not buy anything. So far its going well. I am going to put up some pics I took so please take a look.

All packed and ready to go

Well the day is almost here, just 2 more days until I fly to Japan. I planned this trip so long ago I don't even believe I am really going. I was lucky to spend the last day in complete and total pain over a tooth ache; I am going to the dentist today to get that taken care of. I guess its better that it happens here instead of there.

I am just about all packed up, just a few more things I need to take. It seems like I don't have enough stuff but I don't want to take too much. I am limiting myself to one large suitcase and my backpack as a carry on. I have a lot of cloths so I should be ok if I to laundry ever couple weeks.

The next time I do my blog I will be in Japan so start looking for some new pictures to show up here. I am pretty excited and hope to be drinking beer and eating Sushi very soon.

Good Christmas

,

I had a pretty good Christmas or for me the day after since I have to work on the 25th. I got a lot of cool stuff but it’s the little things that are always the best. I got a cardboard stand up of Brian from Family guy. I already had the Stewie, now they can be together.

I also got a really cool new digital camera; it’s really small and compact. I am going to take many pictures in Japan. I can’t believe I am leaving in 7 days. The time seems to have gone by so fast. I really can’t even believe that I am going. It’s going to be a lot of fun but I am a little anxious about it. This will be the longest I have been away from home since I was in the Air Force.

Merry Christmas

, ,

Lets not forget what Christmas is all about. It's the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Its important that we not lose sight of this despite the non stop attacks from those who want to make us forget who we are.

This year seems to be one of the worst I can remember for attacks on Christmas. Everyone is so afraid that they may offend someone that many places won't even call a Christmas tree a Christmas tree. Hey folks, December 25th is called Christmas, the tree we have in our house is called the Christmas tree. I know the goal of many is to destroy our religion along with our national identity. We have a terrible enemy within the USA and I don't know what it would take to defeat them. Anyhow, I remember what Christmas means and nothing big business, Hollywood, or the media does can brain wash me. I know the sheep of the country all fall into line but I will not become one of the mindless masses.

So Merry Christmas to you all :D

PS: Only 10 more days until I go to Japan

Beer will be drank

,

The drinking of beer will take place. I drink beer, I will drink beer, I am drinking beer, and I drank beer. Ok I think you see the theme of my post here. For a country full of people who can't drink beer the Japanese sure make the good stuff. Here is a little scientific useless fact for you. 50% of the Japanese population lacks a certain enzyme needed to break down alcohol. Because the Japanese are such a pure race of people they have passed this bad gene on and on. As a result many of them can get drunk from one beer. Is this a bad thing? For me I just call it a country full of cheap dates. :D However I like most Americans and Europeans do not have this issue and thus we can drink until we pass out and our livers rot. I had never seen a beer vending machine before I went to Japan in 1993 but there they were. I took this picture in 2004 when I was there. They seemed a little harder to find and had little warning signs about under age drinking on them, in English, I wonder why, but they were there none the less. I will make sure I get a new and improved shot of me using the good old beer vending machines when I arrive in just 20 days.

30 days woo hoo!!

Because I have done little else then work for the last 3 months I don't have much to talk about. I can only tell a story about some drunken idiot before it’s not funny anymore. Since this whole blog was created for my trip to Japan I will stick more and more to Japan related stuff. Although I won't stop the blog after but maybe I will have to re name the title, "Japan, there it went" or something

Anyhow...It’s down to 30s days already, can you believe it. It was over 120 days when I started talking about this trip. Time goes by when you work 24/7 I guess. I have been doing other stuff but nothing so exciting. I am still excited about my trip, I think the main thing is I will be able to do something I want to do and not what the man tells me to do, at least for a little while. I met a guy online today from Canada who lives in Japan; he teaches English there, that’s the job I need!! How carefree would that be to teach English in a place like Japan? I have found over the years if I really set my mind to something I can make it happen. I think we all have that power deep inside someplace. Maybe if I really want to teach English in Japan I can make it happen. Guess I will just have to see how I feel about it when I get over there.

40 Days already?

It seems like each time I look at my countdown timer another 10 days has passed. I can't believe it’s already 40 days. Before I know it I am going to be on the plane flying over there. I hope I can get a pretty good grasp on the language while I am there. It’s going to be fun to meet my new friends and go out and drink beer with them. Other then work I have become a total home-body. I have not gone out with my friends in a long time. My brain is already on vacation I think, although being sick all week as not helped too much. I am going back to work today, so I hope nothing too exciting happens.

World of Warcraft

I have been working so much recently that when I do get some time off all I want to do is stay home. I have not gone out for weeks now. However if I stay home too much then I start to get bored. So I started to play this online game called the World of Warcraft. It’s like the game Ever Quest in that there are thousands of people from around the world playing the game online at the same time. You can interact with them go on adventures, and even battle them. The game over all is pretty fun and good way to stay entertained when sitting home. I play a Night Elf Priest in this game. Basically what I do is heal other players in battle so we can defeat some sort of common foe. This sort of game is probably not for everyone but I have a good time playing it. There are a lot more adults playing then you would think to. Although there are plenty of little kids, they can be avoided if you are careful about it.

If anyone is interested in the game let me know, I can give you more details. We could team up and kill a Dragon

50 days and counting

,

Sorry I have not posted much recently. I have been working almost non stop. I don't think I have had a real day off in 2 months. I have not gone out, drank, met friends, or anything. I just wake up, go to work, come home, eat, go to sleep, wake up, go to work, and I think you see the pattern. Going to Japan is going to be a nice rest even though I will be in class each day. At least I will have time to go out with friends and have some fun. I am really looking forward to a much needed rest.

After I posted this I noticed it was really 47 days, even better. Its like I just lost three days. I think I may have been "Taken"
