Lesson In Lying

Lesson in Lying

A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17."

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."

That is unbelievable yet it is, if you know what I mean! That is something of such magnitude and is something I suggest *all the time* "Read Your Bible For Yourselves" and oh how I truly abhore ~intentional lies~ As does "God, damns all liars". We often forget that there is no such thing as "A white lie" or "A little lie" i.e. Someone calls and you tell {For instance} your child to say your in the shower or something because 'You don't want to talk to that someone' That is teaching your child to lie* I have one more comment to check on and then I am off to get established in Whitestones.us

I'm going to whitestones.us and staying there at my screen until I see that you are there.

Seriously, we have a few people at Whitestones that need a little extra care...they are good people and good Christians. I worry that I may not be able to recognize how to give them the best advice.

Once you do get to Whitestones, what ever you want is yours. If you want to have your own Blog Page, Special Interest Group, Forum, or anything else...it's yours.

I realize you will have to look around first to see what we have or need.

I once made a mistake of issuing an alert for "Earth Day" this year that happened to fall on "Good Friday" One of our good members said to get that off...it was off within 3 minutes.

I pride myself on saying it is a site truly for the members!

I just logged in to Whitestones and realized my instructions were Ok but I see I could have said that it is "board index" you want and then you can always click in the white bar for "user Options' to go to the box on the left and choose "profile" and "avatar" to get an avatar or other options to change your password or other profiles.

I'm not purposely posting to you from all over...it's just that I can't always find my way around.yikes

confused Are we getting old or has the world just become too cluttered and complicated? HMMM! I must ponder this left right left

I once heard a sermon in which the minister gave examples of how sin complicates, but righteousness simplifies, and your story illustrates this. If someone lies and doesn't want to get caught, they have to be careful to verify the details of their lie, make sure they remember their lie so they don't later contradict it, etc.

Telling the truth is much simpler.

Not only that, but in the end who do we impress with lies and to what end...what do they accomplish.

I can see avoiding or even evading straight answers when they might hurt someone and would serve no purpose in saying, but we all have to face ourselves in the end and be happy with who we are.

Certainly I would not be happy looking in the mirror at a liar.
