Grape Sherbet

, , ,

Most of you ma have got curious to know what was that purple ice cream I served in my last post. Grape Sherbet, it was. And interesting enough, that was the third or fourth time I have made that ice cream. Even more interesting is that this recipe is, actually, the very first Ice Cream recipe I have tried, when I got my first ice cream maker.

It is a really easy sherbet, which I usually make inside a 1L plastic bottle, and then transfer to the ice cream bowl. Although there are no heavy cream nor eggs, the final result is a rich and creamy ice cream, although it will be a little more "breaky" than your average french-style ice cream.

Grape Sherbet
Adapted from AllRecipes.com
Makes 1L / quart

¼ can / 100g sweetened condensed milk
½ cup light cream (20% fat)
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup grape juice
500ml whole milk (Or a little bit more)
Juice of ½ large lime or lemon

Add all the ingredients into a 1L bottle, or container, and shake well, to combine everything. Allow it to chill for nearly 2 hours, or even let it seat overnight.
After the mixture is thoroughly chilled, freeze it in your Ice Cream Maker, according to the manufacturer's instructions. As easy as that!
