Lemon Rind, Muffin, blueberry, Easy
...
Whoa! 20 more days without posting! Shame on me...
Well, I’m sorry if anyone missed me.. I wasn’t really inspired to cook and post, besides I had a trip to Northeast Brazil, and spent one week without my camera cable AND with the kitchen all messed up.
But now I’m back, and with some plans for this last third of October! A series of recipes that I wanted for quite a long time to make!
And for tonight’s show: Blueberry Muffins! I had already baked blueberry muffins once, for a picnic with some friends! They weren’t awesome, but fed us well, after a three-hour hike! Hahaha

But anyways, this time, I decided to bake it again, and using a recipe from a very special book I bought a couple of weeks ago. While I was strolling around an antique’s open air market, here in São Paulo, I followed a suggestion from a friend, to search for nice ol’ cook books. And the very one she told me that was interesting was about baking: Pillsbury: The Complete Book of Baking, from 1993! It’s an amazing publication, almost like a bible for baking! 500 pages with various baking recipes and versions of the most traditional North American and European dishes.Read more...

Ice Cream, blueberry, Homemade
What should you do when you receive 10 pounds organic blueberries? 10 blueberry pies, of course!
Wrooooong!
Freeze! Yes, freeze. Of course, using fresh berries is always great, but one can't eat 10 fresh blueberry pies, can he?
(Well, putting things that way, maybe yes... But very few people... nah... Maybe none... )
But back to the freezing subject... one could, indeed, freeze all the blueberries in 2-pound bags... But why not freezing part of them in something a little bit more interesting...? Let's say... Ice cream, for example?

Blackberry, blueberry, Trip, Campos do Jordão
...
Shame on me... Only one post a week! That's awful!!!
And I confess, it's not about a recipe of mine... It's about a little adventure outside my city.
Last weekend, I went to Campos do Jordão, to visit my parents, who were there in a quick trip. Campos do Jordão is a mountain city which, because of it's altitude, it's a traditional winter destination. And I was lucky, 'cause although it's summer here in Brazil, I caught a mass of cold air, so the temperature would be around 13 degrees Celcius.
That being so, the city was perfect to be enjoyed. Soups, chocolate, hot cocoa, ice cream (yes, ice cream in the cold weather is simply wonderful), and, what's better, Christmas mood!
Guys, only us Brazilians (well, and maybe Australians and New Zealanders too) can understand how weird is a Christmas in hot weather. All the pictures, ads, movies, Santa Claus images, Reindeers... just everything is related to snow, cold, fireplaces, and so on! So, at least there I was able to see some cold xmas...
Besides all the decoration, beautiful European style shops, and chocolatiers, one thing was quite interesting: There was happening a Nativity Scenes (Presépio) Contest!

This was the one that most caught my attention. It's chocolate-made, by a guy called Maurício Romão. Of course I was quite interested in that one, but the contest was to help a locals association. So I just didn't felt like choosing the best Scene. I just chose which one would need more of the small help. So I went for a local hospital.Read more...
