Finding info on Opera

There is a lot of info available on the Opera browser - in a lot of different places. Like the forums and blogs at my.opera, at the official opera.com site, at operawiki.info, in the opera.* newsgroups, etc. So when I read about the 'Google Co-op Custom Search Engine', this seemed like a great way to aggregate these sources and let Google do its magic.

Here is the result: Opera Browser Info. Tell me what you think; is this useful? Any important source of info on Opera obviously missing?

No dot?And more rave reviews of Opera Mini! Also, dev.opera.

Splendid idea, I believe!

Excellent idea. Some pages obviously need updating. For instance, Files Used by Opera for Windows.

Sure, it would be useful, but I've yet to figure out how to actually list the sites that comprise these custom Google searches I'm starting to see (not just yours), so it's difficult to tell what's missing without knowing all that's included.

Rijk 30. October 2006, 09:14

rseiler: I think you'll need to a Google account to actually see the settings and contribute directly. I just removed an URL that is not yet public, sorry about that. For those without an account and just curious, here's the list of sites:

Would it be possible to add international sites? In the case I'm talking about the italian http://www.operazone.it?

Cheers. Gian

Thanks for the suggestions.

Gian, the Google Custom Search Engine program is currently limited to English, IIANM.

I'm not sure about adding Operawatch. I think this search should be geared towards finding info on using Opera.

GianAo 30. October 2006, 20:45

:frown: i hope in the future then p:
Just a question: the http://search.opera.com/ is powered by ... what? There is no clue in the page.
Wouldn't it be possible to use it for searching in Opera sites?
Cheers. Gian

Why don't you include other languages as well? Opera forums, Opera Wiki and maybe other pages already contain a localized section, and this works perfectly when you search for them (try for example these Hungarian words: fordítás (translation), böngésző (browser). There are already a lot of results.

So imho you should include all pages which are listed on Opera Fan Sites. Why not?

Rijk 1. November 2006, 19:13

@karaj: See http://www.google.com/coop/docs/cse/faq.html#7

As long as Google doesn't support other languages, this makes it harder for users to find the right info, as they can't exclude languages they don't understand.

And I don't think including all fan sites is useful - I'd like the search engine to be restricted to more-or-less up to date sites, that contain information that is relevant for Opera users.

@GianAo: I've no idea what powers search.opera.com (and portal.opera.com).
