Note: this is an interesting comparison today, 2004-12-10, these dynamically generated images might not look that special after Firefox patches some issues. Snapshot.

The security update 7.54u this evening fixes two Secunia advisories, only one is taken into account at the moment, so actually the red widge should represent only 3.5% of the circle.

Update 2005-03-08: On this joyful day 'Opera 7' is given a green circle by Secunia. Never mind that they are actually looking at Opera 8 beta 2, reinforcing the title of this post...

Rijk, why wasn't the fix for Secunia Advisory ID: SA12713 included in V7.54u - it's fixed already in the V7.6beta's so the cde was available. Having 0% unpatched security advisories should be where Opera is aiming - even if it considers the advisory not critical.

Fixing 12713 is not trivial, as it can have side-effects, and the code base for 7.54 is not the same as 7.60.

It was decided this is not an important enough:

... and at that time the other issues has not yet come up.

Thanks, Yngve confirmed this on the forum thread:

"Because even in 7.60 it caused a number of regressions, backporting the fix was considered too dangerous."

Fair enough.
