A Pair of Um

, , ,

A pair of California Gulls have a discussion about the subject of the day! Food I think! For gulls, that's always the subject of the day! And they were loud. Shouting back and forth at each other. Taking no never mind of the Beach Apes watching them from the pier!

Have a great one!

Waiting for the Train

,

In White Rock, B.C. the railway tracks run right along the edge of the beach. This is a fairly busy track. It carries the Amtrack train from Vancouver to Seattle twice a day, plus other sundry trains.
The Gulls find the track a comfortable resting place.
It always strikes me that they're waiting for the train!

The Usual

Whenever one takes a trip on the Ferry from the mainland to Vancouver Island, and if you are watching, there are certain thing you expect to see.
Gulls sitting everywhere there's a place to sit.

Cormorants sitting just about everywhere too.

I don't think this is the first Gull to sit here!

Most every Buoy has something sitting on it.

The bird life on the ocean is a wonder. There is so much of it. Wherever you look. And they all eat fish!

Still practicing my in flight shots.

Community Bathing!

I was concentrating on the Bonaparte's Gulls the other day, when I notice one having a bath along with a larger Gull. Not sure what the larger one was.
It was quite amusing, as the Bonaparte's seemed to mirror the actions of the other Gull.
Here's a small sequence of them:

Gollee, Gulls!

Here's a study in several gulls. Identifications are tenuous at best, cause these guys are sometimes hard to tell apart!

Thayer's Gull

Immature California Gull

Immature Glaucous-winged Gull

Glaucous Gull

Immature Ring-billed Gull

Immature ??? Gull
I think that they are difficult to identify makes them even more interesting. And, I think they are gorgeous birds.
