Robin’s Robins

This Cooper's Hawk keeps a sharp eye out for prey.

The other day, when I saw and photographed the two eagles, this Red Tailed Hawk was sitting on a chicken barns roof right across the road. When I first glanced at it, I thought it was an owl decoy. My wife asked me if I wasn't going to get a shot of the hawk. I laughed and said it was a decoy. She said, "Well why is it moving then!"
Sure enough. I got out of the car and crossed the road. Just a nano second before I pressed the shutter it started to leave. I guess it didn't like me pointing something at it. This shot resulted. The sun was shining right at me, so the exposure was pretty dark. Fixed it as best as possible.
