By this time I have already two new chains and a new casette. And a kind of accident...
Somewhere about 19000 km I had a flat (again). Fixing it in the middle of nowhere was the least issue since I had the tools and patches. But since I knew that my pump don't really will do the pressure I usually have in the tires I rode to a gas station. No problem, I had an adapter. Arriving there some other cyclist was trying to get some pressure in his tires. He had a cheaper adapter. So I lend him mine. Still some issues somewhere the air found a bypass and the gauge showed 0 all the time. But somehow he got enough air in his tire. So Now I was on the run. Also some air found a way around and the gauge finally showed some movement. As the gauge showed around 3 bar a very loud bang and lots of dust. So they changed the compressor too, last time on the same gas station the air-flow stopped at 5.5 bar. Since the manufacturer of the tire says tested 6 bar I think there must be much more than that. Maybe twice that pressure, who knows. With beeping in the ears I chained my bike to the next pole and went to my parents home.
Since my mother was in vacation I couldn't use the car but my moms bike. That day I had some really sportive cloths on. The picture I gave on that too small womans bike wearing sportive cloths and a helmet must be priceless. On the way to a store something came to my mind. Did the Clincher(?) survived or not. I took the risk to only fetch the inner tube. And I was lucky... Partly. After fixing the stuff and on the way home I noticed the tire was not running round anymore. First idea the Clincher was deformed showed wrong! The rim had a dent.
You must know that the rim I use are very stiff and durable (Mavic A319). And to make it more strange the rim strip was not widened as my first guess was. After two, nearly three brake shoe sets it might be worn out. No the bang deformed the rim in total on a length of about 20 cm and about 5 mm sidewards! That would be expensive! But no the it took the technician about 2 minutes to fix this for free (I spend something into the coffe kitty).
So the total as of today:
20700 km (1400 km to go)
