【Teaching 0】Be Visited as A Teacher for 1st Time

I was informed by my girlfriend Wang that she has found an overseas student from Japan and it was suggested that we meet for the first time as to further discuss issues on Chinese teaching.

These days, after coming back Xi'an, I have been staying at home for days, immersing myself in a pleasing atmosphere of Doing Nothing.
But I am fully aware that I could not let go time like this,
So I begin to find chances for me to practice teaching Chinese as a second language.

Frankly speaking, I was a little bit nervous for:
1. I have not officially taught a foreign learner before
2. I do not possess enough amount of teaching materials which shall make me feel easier and more relaxed
3. 1st time to meet and communicate with a Japanese in person and in Chinese

So before I go I made a preparation that include some points as
1. The taboos and social norms of Japanese. --Purple is not preferred nor is green, so

I choose a pink T-shirt (actually I found that He used a purple color for his umbrella later on)
Yet, I still believe, as a teacher, I shall behave well as a knowledgeable tutor.

2. Finding the culture differences that may trigger a topic--as it is the Dragon Boat Festival according to Lunar calendar for China,
I intended to find some information about this festival yet encounter that Japan also
has this festival to the Solar calendar, on May 5th while it actually turns out to be a National Children's Day.

3. Gathering background information to realize students-oriented---I was asked to
tutor HSK 8 (The intermediate level of Chinese), so I log onto the website of HSK
testing and download a sample testing,
Then i analysis briefly the construction of the paper and glance the questions.

So ,after the above steps, I went out to meet the guy.

Neatly looked, fluent oral and listening Chinese.
We led him through the campus, explaining each distinguished places with careful
patience, laughing over my poor Japanese, and sharing the composition of Chinese characters.

It was a nice trip, this post-graduate in archaeology finally presents us some Japanese
crackers--very delicious and yet the first meeting and tutoring is somewhat delicious to my pumping and eager heart for teaching as well.
