PS; Sorry i could not type characters since i am using a computer without Chinese typing setting on my duty night.
In addtion, it might be better if i just type/ quote the following reflections in English since they are the notes i took from a Dao De Jing Study Group in Maryland.
It was a 2 hour experience starting with meditation, pure silent. Then a speaker talked about "Evil can not enter its heart" followed by interactive Q&A.
I brought my book Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu translated by Arthur Woley, but apparently the group use a different one. Yet I am thinking about reading everything in Chinese and look for different interpretations.
It was interesting to check out how this ancient school of thought is interpreted in America where God is all around.
Key words: Practice, Suffer, Sorrow, Ask, Appearance, Comfort, Evil, Love, Wu Wei
#1 hear the truth DOES NOT= understand the truth
#2 Comfort
-What is the loving to do in suffer?
-you need to comfort yourself and the others
-swage the pain and seek calmness
How to get comfort?
-love yourself enough
-open to resolution
-reflect on how have i been comforted before
-reflect on what have i done to others to bring comfort
#3 emotion V.S. compassion
emotion= ego consciousness
compassion= communication with the suffered= identify humanity= identify the SOLUTION
PS that is why the hunters in the ancient times worship their preys by breathing the same air while hunting and feeling the same pain while the prey is dying.--a scene also shown in Avatar.
#4 suffer-sorrow
-all sorrows is self-created
-It is a GIFT of a new insight and a chance to practice making CHOICES. So live with it and live through it.
-Resistance in any form produces suffering.
-stop thinking and your problem will disappear, otherwise thinking is merely a mental gymnastics
#5 ASK
-asking gives the light for the answer to come in
PS reminds me of An Interview with the Vampire when Louie was the vampire who always bear a question of identity yet keep up with the changes of times. and that is the spirit of all times.
#6 Life and Love
-life is like a diamond with facets which give different perspectives
-do not take actions until your heart speaks to you
-love= God=consciousness
-love=total acceptance of all experience of life
- all i have experienced makes who i am and what i am
-Life= play, we play so many roles, when the curtain falls and we get out of one role, we know getting out is a blessing since we now know how to get in the play
#7 Appearance and Evil
- just a concept= what WE make it to be DOES NOT= reality
-Evil is just a point of view from An Interview with the Vampire
-You Can NOT love unless you are not judgmental
-let GO the illusion
-it is a matter of how to use your self power, creating blessing/ suffering?
# Evil-Love- Wu Wei
- Do not resist Evil
-Evil can not enter its heart
-Achieve peace through non-violence
-Do not fight bullets with bullets
-Wu Wei= Non-reaction/ non-doing
Wu Wei DOES NOT= Bu Wei
Wu Wei= Kong= Yi= Unity= Ai= Love= choose to love= freedom
Bu Wei=be judgemental= seeing evil and suffer= choose to counter-reaction
In conclusion, Wu Wei tells me to 顺势施爱=及时行乐( jí shí xíng lè )
i.e. active love by identifying us with love, and embrace every piece of life with love.
Topic for next month: what are the quality of Dao
