LIFE TRACK

THE WAY I AM

how to open myself to others?

I find i am in quite an ackward situation now.
Being Chinese, we tend to hide our feelings and watch things happen. Yet in the U.S, people are quite upfront and frank with what they feel and think.
therefore, when i am with an American guy friend whom I enjoy spending time with doing stuff such as walking the dog, watching a moving or just making a simple meal, I do not know if I should open myslef that much and say something to him.

What do people deal with the 'blank moments' as i call when on the phone with someone, not wanting to hang off the phone yet hoping more converstaions?

Hummmmmmmm, it is quite a culture experience for me to socialize with the local people in the local culture after all.smurf

Opening yourself up to someone you don't know like very well is not a good idea, even if u want (asa far as i understood) to socialize and like "fit in". Just b/c ppl from usa are more "open" doesn't mean it's good for them.Haven't you seen how much cheating and how u can't trust someone completely in this world? And i'm not dramatizing,it's only the truth. My advice: The only answer that will suit every situation the best is within your own heart.Open up as much as you feel, not as you think you should. And remember that every person is different, regardless of their nation,so you can't compare urslef with others. Oh yeah...and about the blank moments of course everybody has those...Just act naturally and don't think too much into it when it happens : the best way i get over them. (: Hope i helped! xD

But believe me when I say Americans are very closed when it comes to being open emotionally, because we are. Why do you think we've got all the psychologists, therapists, latest mind controlling drugs out here. It's insane. We don't trust as easily and put up lots of walls due to that. So yeah, we may seem like we are upfront and frank but if you stay long enough, you'll find out that we too hide a lot of our feelings. Be you! Out here we say "Talk is cheap, your actions speak louder." And people with right intentions will understand that.
