SMEx X - Shoot 'Em Up

First off I have to appologise for the lateness of this review. After the huge SMEx X event I think I ate a bad hamburger and have been under the weather for the last couple of days.

SMEx X, I can't believe it's ten events already! It seems like yesterday I got contacted by the board to join as their movie reviewing expert. Finally I was able to make it to join everyone for a movie, and it was SMEx-tastic! These guys really know how to organize a movie event! I'm going to get them to organize the premiere for my next project, Anaconda 3: The Offspring.

I met up with everyone at Opera and then we headed out to a local restaurant for some food and pre-movie beers before the big event. It was cool to kick back with the guys and taking in a beer, even though Espen and Arjan insisted on ordering the Iskender kebab. Still everyone else enjoyed "the usual" Bacon Cheeseburger.

After we finished up we took a nice stroll through the cold Oslo evening down to Rockefeller. Well not everyone walked Christian and Espen cycled down, SMEx-ing it all the way with a couple of near misses with photographers but we all made it.

Normally movies are in a cinema of course, but since the Oslo Film Festival is on now, they open up what is usually a live music venue, stick in some chairs and couches, plug in the DVD player and crank up the volume though the huge live music speakers. Wow, it was just great, I have to get this setup back at home. The best part was that as Rockefeller is a 18+ venue, there was beer served during the movie, which I was told is not normal in Norway.

So finally to the movie... What can I say this was one of the most over the top, coolest, funniest and most unexpected hit of the year. It was a fast paced, action packed ride from start to end! I'm still catching my breath! Clive Owen brilliant, Monica Bellucci just plain hot and Paul Giamatti as the cool bad guy. Watching this in Rockefeller was the icing on the cake. Everyone just kicking back with a beer and some peanuts, and enjoying the loud loud sound. They even included an old time intermission so you could take a toilet break and get a new beer! What a night!

So my overall impression was just fantastic. The whole SMEx X couldn't have been better if it was actually planned, and I can't wait to be invited back for another big event.

Thanks everyone!

Here a group shot of us all after the event wink

Thanks for coming Hoff!

The movie was just fantastic, all it needed was a transforming robot to make it the best movie of the year!

Word Hoff! We can't wait to have you over again, get tickets for SmexXX!
And what a movie! I thought the intermission was to clear up the stage of corpses!
As Smith would say "you know what I reaaaally hate?

Great review, Hoff! I'm sure Monica Bellucci would have loved to be on Baywatch with you, but she probably wasn't American enough. Imagine Monica *and* Pamela running down the beach!

The movie is also educational and suitable for children. It teaches the importance of vegetables, after all. Carrots specifically. To have good aim you need good eyes and what's better for the eyes than eating carrots?

It also teaches that healthy vegetables can be lethal.

TheHoff and Monica Belluci would be a great team. I hope TheHoff is well again, I heard he's supposed to sing on SMEx XI, so no more Hamburgers for now!
