The sound of heaven!

, , , ...

On board the Nippon Maru ship, whenever we hear this sound, we all know that many good food and drink are waiting for us at the dining hall. Participants will make their way to the second floor, and ready to enjoy their meal.

There are 3 meal hours a day on board start from 7.30 to 8.30 in the morning, 12.30 to 13.30 in the afternoon and 18.30 to 19.30 in the evening. The meal hours are very strictly observed and participants normally are not allowed to bring food and drink out of the dinning hall!

Welcome to Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD)

, , , ...

Finally we arrived the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), the first activity of our day in Chennai.

RGNIYD is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, fully funded by the Government of India.

The Institute is located at Sriperumbudur only 40 minutes away from Chennai, the commercial and cultural capital and a buoyant metropolis of the third most idustrialised State in India.

The first of my impression to this Institute was the way we got a traditional Indian welcome. Men and women dressed in a very beautiful Indian costumes lining and greeting us with Indian greeting words. They welcomed us with flower garlands and beautiful file holder as souvinirs.
Some of us even had a traditional red tikka, an auspicious sign in India, which anointed on our forehead.

We then had a small tea and snacks before proceeding to our respective group for course discussion. In the environment course discussion, we had learnt about the trend of environmental problem in the world, the environmental problem in Chennai city and the way they deals with it. Finally, a short q & A was promoted among participants and the lecturers.

At about 13.00, all participants of SWY and RGNIYD members had lunch together. The food was very nice with many kinds of curry, fried chicken, and my favorite Naan! Besides, I also really enjoyed with kind of Indian soup and Ice-cream. Very yummy indeed!

My lunch with JPYs

After Lunch, PYs get ready the Indian Villagers near RGNIYD to interact with the villagers and the youth in the village
