Bryant Park Skating Rink and Police Gone Crazy

So as I was walking across 42nd street tonight to meet my friend Gian and his godson Christopher, a really cool kid btw, I approached 42nd and 5th and saw a block of polics cars on both sides of 42nd street from 6th Avenue to 5th Avenue. Lights flashing. All sitting there parked on the sidewalks as if to pull out in an emergency. I do believe it was in prep for Saturday evening.
Tourists were amazed and taking pictures of the lights. As I was walking though all I could think is why stand around. What if this was an emergency and there was a bomb somewhere? Would you stand around and wait to be told to leave. Whatever. I didn't care. I kept walking.

Got to the skating rink set up in the center of Bryant Park. I had never been. It is large. Quite nice for being in the center of Manhattan. Lights and free skating(if you have skates; there are also really $7.50 blue rentals). Looked like fun. Supposed to go until 10:30 on week nights. They say to midnight on the weekends, including New Years Eve.
Dinner at the Dish. Strange night. Splash Bar. More Strangeness. The people. The vibe. Drunks. Ran into Justin. Ran into Paul. That is about it.
Back home to 301 East.
