An unfortunate woman was raped
three years ago. She identified her assailant, and made a positive ID. The culprit seemed to be a 55 year old man of Bosnian extraction (one of the refugees I have been mentioning here; fleeing violence).
The court refused to convict him, as they found DNA traces in sperm from an unknown male on a set of underpants found on the crime scene. So the suspect was released.
Now, after three years, the DNA has been identified. It belongs to another Bosnian refugee, who is at present in jail for murdering his wife.
DNA-ID is a good thing, isn't it? Keeping innocents out of prison. Too bad that in this case, the assailant already was in prison.
And; "show me an eye witness, and I'll show you a liar" - as the old dictum goes.

February 2005 the police recived a report of a rape
at F: student's dormitory (actually I have lived there myself, and have some very pleasant memories from said dormitory, where I met my wife). The rapist turned out to be a practicing psychologist.
When they raided his appartement, they found a number of interesting items: kiddy porn (real toddlers, not 18-year olds with braces and pony tails), hashish, amphetamines, anabole steroids and various other illegal substances.
When arrested, he put up a fight (physically!) but was subdued. After a while the police comitted him to a mental asylum (for the insane - you know?).
And now the Board of Health is wondering
whether they should revoke his licence.
Wouldn't it be easier if they just made his name public? I guess his business would dwindle even if it hasn't already....

An accountant in B. has now been sentenced
to a suspended sentence for embezzlement. Why?
He told the judges that he had been raped some years ago (by other men). After this, he went on a shopping spree, buying clothes with the stolen money. Now his lawyer has managed to make the judge believe that this shopping spree was a direct psychological result of the rape, and therefore the whole crime could be regarded as a "disease".
(BTW the article mentiones that he has been caught with his hand in the till before too, without mentioning what the cause was back then).
Now medical science must find a name for this new disease (I don't mean the judge's disease, that one has several names already, "gullibility in the 4th stadium", but the accountant's?
