The Devil’s City. Чертово Городище.

, ,

Everybody knows that in the world there is a great variety of surprising, mysterious and anomalous places. Such places are often named places of force. In ancient times in such places there were sanctuaries, later people built temples there.

These mysterious places are distinguished by one - there is a strong energy felt both people and animals in them. But this energy is not always positive and good.

In Russia there are many such places. I would like to tell you about one of them. It’s an anomalous place with a negative energy. And it is near to Kozelsk (Козельск). I deliberately won’t mention where it’s location exactly is, because things that happen there are really dangerous. What things? You’ll know it from my story.

The place that I speak about named The Devil’s City and represents the woody hill combined from quartz sandstone. In a northwest part of a hill sandstone forms the rocks covered by a moss.

On slopes of this hill stones of the different sizes and forms are scattered. Some of them are processed by ancient people. For example, in one stone (it is named The Devil's Fingers) there are drilled holes, having, as they say, some calendar meaning.

In other stone, (it is named The Devil's Well) there is a hole in which the water is gathering, and where mosquitoes and other insects live. People say, that if you would take the water out from that hole, even during a drought, it will gather again for a night.

There are many other surprising stones on a hill, but nobody knows what is their meaning and destination. Archeologists say that there was an ancient sanctuary in The Devil’s City.

Also about The Devil's City there is a legend which says that many centuries ago there lived a peasant in these places. He had a beautiful daughter. And Devil had fallen in love with her.

So, Devil demanded her for himself. The peasant agreed to give him his daughter, but only provided that Devil would build for him a palace within one night. As a legend says, Devil hadn’t enough stones for it, and that’s why he could not construct a palace in time.

And The Devil's City, as a legend says, is that uncompleted palace, a heap of the stones scattered by the Devil.

In spite of its bad glory, The Devil's City possesses such attractive force that a lot of people come there, and then tell many strange stories about things occurred with them. The majority are saying that in The Devil's City people are lost, and time behaves unusual.

There were cases when people came to the Devil's City searching for adventures, and then did not come back. Or they came back only many days later and then, when they were asked why they were absent for so long, they were surprised, because it seemed to them, that they were absent only a few hours.

The new film by Sergei Bodrov Sr. (Сергей Бодров-старший), “Mongol. Part One” have been nominated for an Oscar smile)))))

Genghis Khan. The Great Khan of the Mongol Empire.

Historical Summary

1155 – August 18, 1227

Genghis Khan (Temudgin) was a legendary leader of Mongolian armed forces, one of the most famous conquerors in the history of mankind and a man who managed to unite divided Mongolian tribes and create a colossal empire that can only be compared in terms of size with that of Alexander the Great. Different sources give varied dates for Genghis Khan’s birth, ranging from 1155 to 1167. It is known, however, that he was born in the region of the Baikal Lake, which belonged to Mongolia during this period. According to legend, the boy appeared on the earth with a clot of dried blood in his hand, something that was considered to be a good omen among the Mongols. Genghis Khan himself said that he was the son of the Sky, as his forebear was a gray wolf that had descended to the Earth from the Heavens.

The childhood of the future warrior was spent in the conditions of a continual struggle for power between minor local khans. His father was poisoned by Tartars when Temudgin was just nine years of age. For a long time his family lived in poverty, struggling to provide food for itself in the Mongolian steppe. One day, according to the legend, little Temudgin was kidnapped by Targutai. Instead of killing him, Targutai took him to his nomad camp, chaining him up in wooden stocks. At night, Temudgin noticed that the stocks had been poorly fixed in place and he managed to escape the nomad camp. Targutai hunted the fugitive for several days, but in vain. The only thing that he managed to discover was that all who met Temudgin as he fled were shocked by the fire that burnt in his eyes, so they didn’t block his passage, instead assisting him.

Temudgin managed to subdue several tribal forces which he then used to overcome the Mongolian Merkit people. It was on the Merkits that he first used a tactical approach that would help him to further victories in the future — never leave enemy forces in your rear. He destroyed everyone on the way to his goal. When Temudgin’s forces became so strong that he could take on the seemingly invincible Tartars, the military leader first beat them on the battlefield and then slaughtered any of them taller than the axels on the wheels of his campaign carts.

In 1206, a gathering of the Tartar-Mongols took place on the shore of the Onon River, at which Temudgin was elected supreme ruler of all the united tribes. It was at this meeting that he was named Genghis Khan (literally “Lord of the Universe”). This gathering was a turning point in the history of the Mongols — now they were ready to embark on military campaigns of conquest. A nation had appeared with its solidarity based on a unified leadership, territory and, most importantly, sovereignty. It should be remembered, however, that all of this was the work of Genghis Khan.

One of Genghis Khan’s greatest conquests was the capture of China. Over the course of three years a progressive advance was carried out, and only in 1214 did Genghis Khan temporarily retreat, giving his forces some short respite. In 1215, Beijing was captured. Genghis Khan gave the task of entirely capturing the country to his military commanders, as he headed off further a field — to capture the entire world. The next item on his agenda was Khorezm, the center of oriental culture during this era. The formal grounds for this war were the destruction of a caravan that belonged to Genghis Khan. The campaign against Khorezm was completed in 1223.

Genghis Khan died on August 18, 1227.

Having been born into a small Mongolian tribe, the son of a low level chieftain, he managed to victoriously lead his army from the borders of China to the shores of the Dnepr River. Although the empire that he created would eventually collapse, both as a result of the incompetent administration of the Mongolian leaders that followed him and as a result of objective historical factors, it left a wealth of evidence of its victories over other nations.

Summer 2007

, , ,

This summer I worked in tee and coffee boutique.

It was very interesting. I learned a lot about different kinds of tee and coffee.

I’ve opened for myself a multitude ways of cooking this wonderful drinks and I have read and find out a lot about it’s history.

Promotion was the main part of my work. I organized tee-tasting and sometimes coffee-tasting. And I really liked that.

I had to learn a lot about customer’s psychology and about secrets of well-selling. Now I can make anybody buy whatever I want him or her to buy. yes Or to do.

Of course, I learned a lot about book-keeping, stock-taking, and some more necessary things.

In my work I liked an opportunity to know more, to taste and to feel excellent tee and coffee and to communicate with interesting people.

But finally I dislike being a «leg man» and doing a leg work. And in particular I found out that I can’t put up with great number of rude and capricious clients every single day.

Also I’m a student of MSUIE now. It’s a serious university. And that’s why I had to choose between my education and that job. I chose education.

Now I’m rather happy because I have learned very much. And my shop assistant skills helps me every day to get what I want, to make new friends, to be more confident, positive and open with people.
