I want to fly like an eagle...

Hva er denne figur? What is this statue called?

,

In Ålesund I photographed a statue stating on a small open place close to the Keiser Wilhelm gate. It's a woman looking to the harbour, seemingly waiting for her beloved one to return (?) from sea. Even though I have found out the names of many statues in Ålesund, I just can't find the right name for this one. Could anybody (maybe from that area) help me in this case?

The statue is called "Ut mot havet" (not sure how to translate; "out towards the sea" maybe? not always easy:p) It's located at Kiperviktorget. It is made in memory of 33 fishermen that lost their lives at sea during a storm in 1885. They left behind 29 widovs and 113 children. The Buholmmonument: "Ut mot havet" was made by Kirsten Rokkin and has been standing since June 6th 1989.

I hope this was helpful:) Your Norwegian is by the way very good:up: I'm impressed:)

That is indeed very helpful, as I want to provide more detailled information for that photo in my gallery. I think such details improve the experience when viewing a photo, a painting or any kind of art. It makes those items more "alive".

Takk for vennlig ordene, men jeg vet meg vei er enda vid.

Ut mot havet could perhaps be translated to "Facing the sea"?

I think the norwegian was pretty good too.
