Pink rock concert in Cologne 2009

"This used to be a funhouse..."

I was on the rock concert of Pink in Cologne this monday. You maybe remember that my parents gave me a ticket on Xmas, so I took my best shirt, a pair of trousers and a good jacket and made my way to the LanxessArena in the heart of Cologne.

I decided to drive by car, which wasn't the most clever idea afterall, because pretty much every parking spot was filled around the concert, but I found a good place about 2km away and made the last few meters using the tram. I made it just in time and about 2minutes after I took my seat the opening band RayGun started playing. A mixture of rock and brit-pop I would say, but I'm no expert. Sounded really hot, but sadly not very fitting to support the main act. Still worth a look.

After RayGun were done, it took around 40 minutes until the big party started and Pink entered the Arena. It was a nice mixture of rock, pop and some really really AWESOME unplugged stuff. Yepp, the unplugged parts were best part of the show (directly followed by a cover of "Babe I'm gonna leave you" originally by Led Zeppelin). It was nice to see Pink obviously enjoying the concert herself too and doing some spontaneous jokes with the audience.

Besides the great music it's been a great show... many great effects, some nice artistic stunts (many performed by Pink herself) which were good to see, but weren't necessary as the concert itself was already very sweeping! :headbang:

To me 'Pop' is just a shortcut for popular music... so any kind of popular music is Pop... so "Enter Sandman" by Metallica was pop music (and Hard Rock, too) or "Königin der Nacht" by Mozart which is kind of pop classic.

It is a bit hard to define, what the concert actually was... a mixture of ballads, rock music, progressive rock and some... dunno... jazzy(?) parts. But I think the rock parts dominated the show, even though I liked the unplugged parts the most. But however... it was big fun and a great show. What else could I have asked for?

Your uncle has a very fine taste.

But now I start wondering: will AC/DC play Led Zeppelin too?

Pink is quite cool, and has a great voice.

I agree with the definition of pop. Though sometimes they do make combinations like "pop-rock" which should mean rock, a bit more oriented to the wider masses.

Pink is often described as pop-rock, but there are some pure rock things, and there is also some RnB there. Speaking of RnB, it's also a genre that has changed quite thru the years, it kinda represents something out of the blues genres that is popular, so it started as something mostly soul, but today it goes up to hip-hop and sometimes even rap. Go figure.
