buenzli17: No evoke, so maybe buenzli?

, ,

I wasn't on evoke2008, even though it was just 15minutes away from home. I didn't feel very well and as I'm still a bit overworked at the moment I preferred to stay home. Still I had a look at the winners of most competitions (see pouet.net) and found some very nice demos.

D.Fox wasn't on evoke either, as he had to work the whole weekend (and sounded a bit nerved - so greetings mate, hope you'll be better soon!).

What I'm now thinking about is, if I'm going to the Buenzli17 demoscene party in Switzerland. D.Fox and his girlfriend told me, that it's a great experience and really worth a try. I guess I'll have to check the prices for getting there...

evoke 2008: preparing

, ,

At the moment I'm trying to prepare for the upcoming evoke2008 in Cologne (just 20minutes away from home) from 8th to 10th of August, but I'm a bit doubtfully about it. I asked for C64 support and got told, that I should provide my image as PNG, not as Koala-file or D64-disc-image.

For one of the three largest demoscene parties in the world this answer seems pretty poor. The demo compos do not even provide an oldschool compo, you have to compete in the wild competitions and you even have to bring your own hardware for it. :yuck:

At least I'll meet D.Fox again, who will reveal our future on evoke... some specials planned for the Ultimate Meeting 2008.

So right now I'm still thinking about a cool idea for an new image on evoke2008... only 3 weeks left to go, so time's running up. awww
Suggestions welcome! :wizard:

Rewired 2008: Ranked 2nd and back home

, ,

I ranked second in the graphics competition at Rewired party 2008. I got told that it was extremely close (I haven't seen the points yet), so I'm pretty happy about the result. As "award" I got this yummy belgian waffle, that I'll eat while creating my next compo image.

Sadly the cell of my camera gave up, right before the award ceremony, so I have no photos from that, but Red and Psykon took 3 out of 4 awards (best demo, best music, best graphics) and got a whole crate of the world exclusive party beer! Gratz!

Rewired 2008: shhhhh... good morning day 3

, ,

Around 8am I woke up in my car(this night was pretty okay) and went over to the party location. I expected to be some people already/still being at their machines, but... all was dark. Not a single screen was turned on. So I sneaked into the hall, for I don't want to wake up the guys/gals around here.

If you still wonder: The best place to sleep is surely right next to your PC. I prefer under the table, it's safer in case of an earthquake, or people just stumbling over you.

Yesterday late night the competitions were shown on bigscreen. Not really many entries, but the spirit is high and some entries really kicked ass. I hope my entry gets some good points, let's wait and see.

Looking at the timetable of our intranet, the prizes will be given around 12:00, so still some time left for me to have some food, drink and more pixeling. Reminder to myself: Ask FRaNKy to upload the PC intro demo for Rewired on youtube and about updating the C64scene db entry of this party.

Rewired 2008: YEAH! Smash the screen!

, ,

The windscreen of ZaVkE's car got broken (no idea how that happened though, as I just arrived minutes later). But Santa shows one possible solution to that riddle: Smash it!
(just joking! )

ZaVkE now tries to get a replacement for his car/windscreen, as it is obvious that we can't fix this crack. :D

Rewired 2008: BBQ!

, ,

MEAT in flames... I mean BBQ! The MEAT we bought now got on the grill... :chef:

Red: It's either burned or still raw...
Psykon: Just as we like it!
