A Nerdy Girl in a Man's World

What's the deal?

How come in every single gaming magazine or online article about gaming noone ever mentions the best-selling game of all time, The Sims? Is it because it is considered a "girly game"?

I don't know. But from my online experience with The Sims and The Sims 2 I have found that these games attract three kinds of people: Girls, Gay's and Geeks. The three G's. I am a Geeky Girl so I guess I more than fit that description. However, the so-called Gamer's, the ones that play Counterstrike and other brain-dead shoot'em-up's, look in contempt on this. Weirdness.

What do you think?

I think you're right about the girly part. Even though I've never tried it i have that attitude towards it. I guess it's cause it's my girldfriends' little sisters favourite game. And you just can't have much fun without a fully loaded AK-47 and a couple of handgrenades. Except for a stack of chips and 52 cards.

I agree with you, even as I don't play games, that the gaming magazines are concentrating mainly on the shoot'em games. Isn't it the same with cinema? This is what people want to buy.
I read somewhere that the gaming industry is looking for new markets and they will start targeting girls. Now we will have to see, what this games will be, Sims X or Tomb Rider X...
