The battle with yourself...

why is it that day to day we always regard ourselves as our worst enemy.
is there any truth to this or are we just being passive to our own beliefs... Why do we want to emulate others so much that we begin to forget our own identities, about who we are in the whole scheme of things... why do we always consider others needs before our own. or do we. is there anyone who understands themselves fully or do we just get used to who we think we are as people.
Why are we so critical of ourselves and our abilities always feeling that we come up short somehow.
we are all originals breaking the mold each time we come on to the scene. its true you are different from anyone around you and you have value and purpose to someone other than yourself.
[/I] One thing that i always strive for is being original to stand out from the crowd as it were.
as a musician and composer of music and as a man. this is needed to bring new ideas and fresh approaches and concepts to the table. we are after all the poets of this age.
theses are questions i ask everyday. am i any less than you.. in importance are we just kidding ourselves in our intent to be original. is anyone getting this.
I have been a poet and composer of music since i was a young boy.
i have always considered the needs of other people before my own leaving my own needs to the wayside is that wrong. am i doing a dis-service to myself. i dont think so i think the problem is that not enough people think this way. consider this, if there were more people in a service attitude towards others wouldn't we help each other more with our lives and problems.and in direct effect wouldn't there be less problems to deal with as a result of this way of thinking.
Take relationships for an example.
we always try to find a mate that shares our ideas an attitudes towards life. and we work hard at being what we would expect our mates to appreciate and try to find a common ground with that person when we find them. for myself i would look for a woman that loves art and life expression. also she has a good idea of who she is and is very comfortable in her own skin.
she is a good nurturing individual's and loves nature and sharing her dreams.
this is only my idea of a good mate for myself for another it would be completely different.
for this reason we are all different. and our needs are different. that makes all of us very special in our giving and our understanding.
I would not be concerned with weather or not she is a professional woman of the world. just if shes honest about herself and her needs from me. ok so...
the next thing is this MacDonald attitude that most people have about life you know faster is better... is it.
[/ALIGN] Just a thought.
The Giant Clock.
We live our lives like a giant clock is ticking away and prompting us to move and flow with changes and atmosphere. but how much original thought is really out there and where does it come from.
ok back to the subject of you. being your own worst enemy.
My feeling is this. we are the makers of destiny and we are our best friend or worst enemy in that we have the power of control over our own lives...
as individuals we shape and contour our own paths and destiny's with our actions on a day to day basis.
in that we are the makers of our own rules or guilds to help us through each day and we decide weather we have a good day or a realy bad one...
thats all for now... take care and remember you are in control. SelfStyldMusic,

Being true to yourself and having that strong sense of identity outside of influence is an amazing thing.
I've always been marching to my own beat, too.
As a writer, poet etc, I can relate to your words, and enjoyed your writing style, which is markedly different than my own!
Welcome to Opera Rob, I hope you like it here. I know I've been exceedingly lucky here by meeting great people like Mags! (And many more! ).

Especially the last two paragraphs.
Let me answer one single sentence:
Do unto others as you would have others do upon you.
- Jesus Christ
Peace and love to your heart,
