Project Powder, the latest game from Outspark has strung together elements from every game type to create an overall awesome game. The game is set a couple of hundred years into the future at which time people can travel between worlds to hit the slopes. The game is set predominantly as a racing game but offers two subtypes, battle race and coin race. As the game is still in its early stages the availability of stages items and all the other finer details is yet to be perfected but the game play is clear and shouts out to all gamers, hardcore or casual.

The game and race entry runs from a simulated computer desktop which has a menu and various icons linking to things like the 'Gear Shop' and 'Trick Tree' as well as showing the rooms available to join. Once a room has been selected players wizz off to a small patch of snow where the players can run around and chat pre-race. Finally the race begins and players do their thing on the slopes.

The game features its own soundtrack which is currently not all that exciting but it does add some life to the races. Players are able to perform a wide range of tricks from the simple to the impossible, each unlocked by completing certain challenges.

There aren't a lot of similar games out there so there isn't much I can compare this too but the concept of an online snowboarding game shouldn’t be too hard to understand. Sign up is free and items within the game can either be purchased using in game money or Outspark's 'Sparkcash'.

The system requirements aren’t anything that a modern computer couldn’t handle but a fast internet connection is a must to avoid lag. The biggest downside would have to be that the items in the game except for a few are at this point non-permanent, meaning you buy them and a week later they’re gone, hopefully though a range of permanent items will become available as the game moves into Open Beta and then it’s Final Release.

This game is a must play for anyone looking for a good snowboarding game whilst the tricks and slopes remain unrealistic the online play opens up new challenges with every race. The game is user friendly and perfect for any gaming level diffidently a game to play this winter (or summer for those up north).
