One of the more popular gods of Hinduism is Shiva, the god of death and reproduction.
(As a man casts off his worn-out clothes and takes on other new ones,
So does the embodied soul cast off his wornout bodies and enters others new,
He cannot be cut by sword,
Nor burnt by fire;
The waters cannot wet him,
Nor the wind dry him up.
BHAGAVAD GITA, 2, 22, 23)
word Hindu is derivation
Perhaps the oldest and most complex of all the religions of the world is Hinduism. Its forms and religious themes are traced in 3rd millennium B.C. It probably the most flexible and tolerant of all religions. In this vast tolerance, Hinduism allows for literally millions of minor and major gods, their temples, and their priests. Therefore, for the Hindu, the possible religious views are virtually infinite.
Hinduism absorbed features of Jainism and Buddhism and stop them to be a danger for its existance.
Hinduism was the religion of a most civiled nation of her time; 3 millennium BC. Aryan of Iran conqured subcontinent and their religion also overpower the region. Due to flexibility of Hinduism, very soon these emerged.
So as we may say that present Hinduism is not the pure form.
Yet many of its verses can be compare with modern religions like Jewism, Christianity and Islam.
1. Defination of God in Hinduism is; Verily, in the beginning this world was Brahman(Ever Growing, Immortal, God), the limtless One--- limitless to east, limitless to north, . . . limitless in every direction. . . . . Incomprehensible is that supreme Soul, unlimited, unborn, not to be reasoned about, unthinkable--- He whose soul is space!
(Maitri Upanishad, 6, 17).
In Islam, Who is one, Who is indifferent, Who is not born and Who is not deliverd, Who is unique(has no example and no one is like Him).
2. Story of Manu is this that when he was washing hands a fish came into his hands. Fish said him to save me and she'll save him. Manu asked when you'll save? She said that a flood will carry away all the creature. Make a ship for that flood. It came flood and Manu survived.
(Satopoda Brahmana, 1:8)
In Islam the story of Noah is resembling.
3. This whole world the illusion-maker projects out of this (BRAHAMAN).
And in it by illusion the other is confined.
Now, one should know that nature is illusion.
And that Mighty Lord is the illusion-maker.
(Svetashvatara Upanishad, 4, 9-10)
Islam says that God has made all the universes. Islam also advise human being that this world is nothing but illusion. Get ready for real life that will start after death.
These are just few examples.
