Ahoy!

So here’s a word I’ve been hearing of quite a bit lately and I think it is my new thing I am going to start looking at from an “art” view.. like doing pieces on it.. It is…
Androgyny!!

So never fret if you don’t know what it means, Wikipedia will explain:

“Androgyny is a term derived from the Greek words ανήρ (anér, meaning man) and γυνή (gyné, meaning woman)[1] that can refer to either of two related concepts about gender: the mixing of masculine and feminine characteristics, as in fashion statements; or the balance of "anima and animus" in psychoanalytic theory.
An androgyne in terms of gender identity, is a person who does not fit cleanly into the typical masculine and feminine gender roles of their society.”

I find it really cool, this whole thing of not fitting into a specific gender role. Like, you know you get those people and you look at them and you cannot define if they’re male or female? Fascinating. And scary sometimes.. As in the case of Bill Kaulitz, frontman (yes MAN) of Tokio Hotel. I totally thought he was a she in the beginning until I found out he’s a he!


“Occasionally, people who do not actually define themselves as androgynes adapt their physical appearance to look androgynous. This outward androgyny has been used as a fashion statement, and some of the milder forms (women wearing men's trousers/men wearing skirts, for example) are not perceived as transgendered behavior.”


BUT there is a line. I find this quite weird (even for me). THIS is a guy- a very hot guy when he’s a guy but when he’s all androgynous, just SCARY.
