Politician muscles in on sporting glory

, , , ,

Excuse me but why on earth is the Prime Minister being given time on the BBC News to congratulate Bradley Wiggins on winning the Tour de France? furious

We've never been told David Cameron is a massive fan of cycling. His opinion carries no more weight than the man in the street (which the TV news do actually like to randomly quiz).

Get a famous cyclist or commentator to explain the size of his achievement. Someone in the field of sport. I don't need Cameron cynically trying to catch some of the feel-good factor of the moment. I mean, he's a politician! Who really thinks his comments are adding anything to the story?

Come on BBC - that's awful.

Politicians nowadays feel that they have to comment on anything to do with sport and popular culture to appear to be in touch. Remember when they debated Diedre in Coronation Street going to prison? rolleyes
