About me
I never know where to start these things, cause I can never figure out what it is that I could say that would let a person understand me in just a few paragraphs. Already I'm coming off sounding like I think I'm complicated and deep, which I don't. I actually have very little self-confidence, but I really don't care. I hate it when people use chatspeak non-ironically, and I hate spelling errors and gramatical errors, but I think that's mostly because I myself make them a lot and I just hate other people thinking I'm stupid.I'm a sophomore in high school, but some people say I seem much more mature than that. I don't. I like math, but rarely do the homework. I love art too, and I really love confusing new teachers with this. You know those whole "Are you right or left-brained?" excersizes? Well they have you list your favorite classes and my top two are always Art and Math.
I love photography and would really love to take some film photography classes. Sadly I live in the tiny-ass town of Banks, and we have zero photography classes, film or otherwise.
Ah, Banks. Not. It's a terrible little podunk, humpastump rural town where half the population are farmers and start chewing tobacco at age twelve, and the other half are Intel Kids. I use to live in Portland and I'm still quite bitter about being ripped up and relocated like some ugly houseplant. I love Portland. Well, some aspects of it. The politics, taxes and crazy stabby street bums I can go without. But it really is a beautiful city. It's... teeming with culture and things to do and places to see. The exact opposite of Banks. I only have about two more years here though, if I do well in school.
Which might be a problem. I'm a terrible procrastinator. Infact, when I wrote this, I was supposed to be writing three papers for history class and doing a Finals review for Algebra II as well. Looks like I might have to take summer school this year. The very idea sickens me, but it's no one's fault but my own.
In spite of being a procrastinator though, I do get some good grades, and for the most part like school, and just learning in general. I love to read the dictionary and I love watching those History Channel specials. Wikipedia is my new best friend, I swear.
I love being weird, and I love being contradictory. I like being militantly un-pc, and I love being a conservative. Not a typical one though! I want to save the rainforest and the whales, believe me. After all, the root of conservative IS conserve. I hate it when people call me a Nazi or completely change their view of me after they find out I'm a right-winger. I'm actually pretty moderate for a conservative. Almost all my friends are liberals, I believe in legalizing pot, and civil unions for GLBT couples. However, I HATE affirmative action and fiscal irresponsibility *cough* major league baseball in Portland. Your tax dollars at work, folks! *cough cough* I also hate it when people can't remove emotion from politics. The two don't mix very well, and when people start thinking with their heart and not their head, they can really get their feelings hurt. Which makes discussions no fun at all. So I try to keep my love of politics to myself mostly.
I'm also very passionate about music, I luuurrrve it. I listen to everything from Air to Abba, Zebrahead to The Zutons, and almost everything in between. I don't like much country, but I do like Johnny Cash [since I was four], John Prine, Hank Williams and some others here and there. I really don't like rap either, but I do like some of the more hip-hop stuff as well as the Sugar Hill Gang, and a few from Eminem.
Mostly though, I like stuff in the Rock genre. I love Oldies, Stadium Rock, New Wave, Punk, Emo [the real stuff, none of that Fall Out Boy shit. I mean, they're okay, they're jut not Emo], Grunge, Alternative, Brit-pop, Techno, Electronica, Indie, and experimental. I love acoustic and I LOVE piano rock. I like music from almost every artis that died at 27, though that's definately NOT the reason. Another one of my pet peeves is when people put music into a genre it's obviously not, like the emo thing. Same goes for punk, people. Blink, Sum 41 and Good Charlotte ARE NOT PUNK!
I think I just generally don't like it when people corrupt perfectly good music for proffit or to make a fashion statement, and sadly it happens all the time. And it's been happening for a long time too, it's nothing new. Remeber the Monkees? Even though I like them, they're pretty much just a copy of the Beatles [whom I ADORE].
I really love crazy-weird experimental and electronica music with all those beeps and clicks and whirs. Bands like Dntel and Xiu-Xiu, Ellen Allien and Tumble Cat Poof Poofy Poof are just awesome. Weird but awesome.
As a sharp contrast, I love love love classical music. Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Vivaldi, Bach, I could go on and on, I just love them. I'd really like to find some good neo-classical stuff out there, but I haven't been too lucky.
Obviously I love weird things, and I also love to dress weird. Mind you, this doesn't [necissarily] mean badly. I love stuff like freaky eighties clothes and Tokyo street fashion [BUT I HATE ANIME!]. I love wearing weird elf hats and drawing weird designs all over my face with eyeliner.
I'm pretty sure I come off sounding like just another ditzy high school girl, but hopefully I don't. And if you've read all of this, I want you to know I appreciate it. You need a prize or something. Like... tell me the word "humpastump" and I'll give you... um... a picture of a yellow carebear! I know, bad prize but I'm broke. Anyways, It's the thought that counts. And I think Im done typing now.
